Wagner new Fant?

Could lionized Ahmad Wagner be 2019's Noah Fant? Fant will be gone after this year. 2019 is our best shot at a national title. Fant is really the only big loss heading into that year...so, could Wagner be the key to our '19 national title?

Has anyone heard anything on Wagner yet? It's rather intriguing...would love to see him stay and give it a go. If you are going to train to be a pro...Iowa is the place to do that...especially at where I think he would eventually play...TE.

That's tough.
He has 2 to play if he stays and if he wasn't taking reps this spring??
He won't start this year in a p5.
Now you are down to fall, winter and spring, and one more fall. One season?
Never heard of anyone going before a Junior. That's three.
However I think they are trying to do him right. Let him get his degree. But I think as far as going pro, his battle is far greater than Nixon's.
Just a thought.

I don't think he could have practiced with us in the spring without losing his b-ball scholly for the second semester. So I wouldn't read too much into the fact he hasn't joined the team already.

What I hope he realizes is that chances are if he leaves without stepping down a level he is going to have to redshirt and therefore will most likely be on the scout team wherever he goes. If he stays at Iowa, he may not play or play much this fall, but he could possibly take some meaningful reps in practice which would give him a boost for the next season.

Yeah, well, he also considered himself a basketball player.
Agreed. When I heard he was visiting UK I thought to myself, boy this guy isn’t a very good decision maker. Why would you sit out a year and then have one year to play at one of the worst P5 schools in the country? He’d be much better off finding a pass happy FCS schools and playing two years. Supposedly there is a TE from SD State that might hear his named called in the 1st round this year. The Bears drafted a TE out of Ashland college in the second round last year. You need to play ball to get exposure. I hope it works out for Ahmad but it seems like he could use someone in his corner helping him make these decisions, and that’s not to say playing football at Iowa is even in his best interest.

Exactly.
The cards are already stacked against him playing ball at the next level. Why make it even harder?
But it's like you said, it's about decision making abilities.
Wasn't there a thread about that with, commit, decommit, commit, decommit, go somewhere else, then transfer.
The road is paved with squirrels who couldn't make up their mind.

I guess he can't rely on his head basketball coach for that help since that guy's advice on basketball probably isn't all that helpful, either.
This really has nothing to with Fran, no reason to bring that here. He wanted to play basketball at the college level and he did some okay things for us. He played in the tournament as a freshman and he brought some much needed athleticism and toughness that we craved as a fan base.

It has a lot to do with Fran.

We don't know that Fran hasn't talked to him.
Maybe he just doesn't like the answers he is getting.
I'm just saying, he needs to sit down stop and think about what it is he wants and then formulate a plan of least resistance in obtaining that.
I'm not going to throw Fran or anyone else under the bus for something like this.

Fran lost all credibility with me when he started putting his skinny, underweight sons on the team. Bad move
Lol. I lost a lot of respect for Fran given the performance last year and the way he handled it.

Cmac is not skinny. He is the same size as Isaiah Moss and weighs more than Dailey.

Pmac has some weight issues but that is likely contributed to cancer.

What a stupid post.
