It is tough enough recruiting kids to Iowa when all they associate with our state is corn. Then we have the need to further throw it in their faces after they get here as well. Couldn't just make it about the two schools and their football programs, and not a fight over the corn?
 
to be fair... the sponsor is corn ... so enough is enough... just pick a trophy and stop being ladies about it doesn't match the rest of the trophies.
 
I'm sorry, but I can't believe those are the three options they came up with. I thought they opened the design competition to the general public and can't believe that someone didn't come up with a more dynamic design. Either that or the people who narrowed down the entries to these three are severely lacking in any sense of artistic design or originality. Pretty sad given the original controversy.

In order to better attract players to teh state, the new Cy-Hawk trophy should have several skanks in bikinis, stacks of cash, a bunch of X-Box controllers, and a Facebook status linking a YouTube video of a kitten punching a little kid in the nards.
 
I cannot believe some of you are making a big deal over this. The sponsor is Iowa Corn so it has to have a corn theme and these designs are way better then the precious moment theme they had.
 
I agree that the choices are not ideal and I resent a temporary sponsor designing a self-serving trophy for a rivalry that was here long before they were sponsors and will (most likely) last long after they are sponsors. I know that the almighty dollar rules everything in today's society, but just because Iowa Corn threw enough money at the schools, does that give them the right to pimp their cause on a trophy that is supposed to be (I repeat, supposed to be) something cherished down through the ages?

That said, this IS Iowa, and as sheepish as some may feel about it, corn IS the main thing that we do (at least a very important thing that we do) and the main thing we are known for nationally. The new options aren't that bad, certainly much better than the first offering. There is an actual football on it, and even Cy and Herky on one option.

Maybe after the Iowa Corn sponsorship runs its course, the Iowa Pork Producers can take over and give us a trophy with hogs on it. Imagine the possibilities!

Hy-Vee never would have F'd it up this bad. They would have provided a quality trophy at a reasonable price, along with a smile and they would help carry it to your car.
