Vikings vs Titans last night (Reisner, Ballard, and Klug)

Not a real exciting game but some nice plays by former Iowa guys.

Klug was tearing up the Vikings o-line in the first half. He finished the night with 1 tackle and 2 assists. I think he started for them.

Ballard had a nice sack and ended up getting the Continental Diamond Player Of The Game by the KFAN radio staff (Vikings announcers). He completed the night with 1 tackle and 1 sack.

Reisner got a lot of talk in the pre-game by Vikings radio announcer Paul Allen and color man Pete Bercich. Allen said he was really turning some heads in pre-season, and Bercich said he had a real shot to make the team. Visanthe Shianco did not make the trip due to injury so Reisner was the 3a or 3b TE with Jeff Dugan. He had a nice 16 yard grab from Christian Ponder while Vikings VP Of Player Personal Rick Spielman was in the booth. He had a lot of nice things to say about Reisner and the 3rd TE spot is up for grabs. Dugan has been a Viking for a few years but they like Reisner's ability to play the H-Back. Reisner later dropped a tough 4th down catch that would have moved the chains. He had 1 catch for 16 yard for the night.

Not much going on but it was neat to hear some Hawks doing well.

Forgot to add that Seth Olsen played a lot in the 1st half for Minnesota. I was listening via KFAN stream so I couldn't see how he did but he got solid PT.

He was on their practice squad last season.

What about the ND guy, Rudolph?

Rudolph is the clear #2 but with Shiancoe out everyone moved up a spot.

Depth at TE looks like this.

1. Shiancoe
2. Rudolph
3. Kleinsasser
4. Dugan/Reisner
5. Ed Barham

It's going to boil down to if the Vikings want to keep 4 TE's when it comes to Reisner making the team. I think he and Dugan are pretty close for that spot. Minnesota has kept 4 TE's before so it's not out of the question. Dugan played some H-Back in the past for Minnesota but Reisner is a little more athletic and better pass catcher. Dugan has the experience and blocking advantage. With this being Kleinsasser's last year most likely I see Reinser at least making the practice squad if he gets cut. Then next season he could try and make the team like the Vikings did with Albert Young.

I don't think Reisner will make the Vikings but he will certainly be playing in the NFL this year. Vikes have too much depth (Kleinsasser and Shiancoe) and used a pretty high pick on the kid from ND.

The Chiefs, Broncos, Lions, Panthers, Falcons, Rams, Cardinals, Bills, Texans, and Jags all could use some help at the TE position. I would expect him to be released and signed with one of those 10 teams.

The smart thing for the Vikings to do is to trade Shiancoe or Klainsasser and retain Rudolph and Reisner. That gives you a proven starter with experience and two top shelf rookies that can develop over the next few years. But we all know that the Vikings won't do the smart thing.

Lets be honest, they aren't going to be good this year so why not get what they can and build for the future.

Klug could likely be a starter on opening day. He has been phenomenal in practice and is talked about almost daily on local sports radio. He looked good last night for sure.

Did Greenway sign any autographs or at least wave at any fans?

My buddy was at the game wearing a Drew Tate jersey and Iowa hat. He was sitting two rows behind the Vikings bench and he kept yelling "Hawkeye Nation representing." Greenway and Reisner went up to him right before warmups during halftime and gave him an autographed football and invited him to go out for drinks after the game was over, but bince he had to go to church this morning, he declined.

This.

Man your friend is lucky. I even wore my Greenway Hawks jersey and when I yelled at Greenway he didn't even say hi or wave. Anyone have other stories like this? I figured a fellow Hawk would at least come over and sign my chest.
