Video player stalls browser

I'm on a mac using Safari. All pages on HN stall the browser until the videos load. It's not a matter of bandwidth and downloading the page; it's the player and its playlist that holds everything up. I am experiencing major CPU-use spike, spinning wheel, frozen page. It resolves itself once the videos load, but that takes a good 30 seconds.

Makes the site unusable.

I've seen so much of this stupid color wheel that I want to put my foot through the monitor. Seriously p*ssing me off.

was bummed to see it today. i had it blocked on chrome, now its not letting me. it really is slowing the site down for me.

yeah! nevermind. blocked now and running so much faster.

Better now. It looks like there aren't as many videos loading in the player. No problems now.
