Vandenberg's Delivery

People stop comparing Stanzi to JVB....Stanzi had Shonn Greene and defenses that ranked in the top ten nationally every damn year. How many times in his junior year did the defense bail him out of bonehead plays. He threw the most interceptions of anyone in the freaking country. We won because our defense was one of the best in the country. If not for the Stanzi's pick sixes, we were top two or three in scoring defense.

You think this defenses compares...its a whole different ballgame.

Fair statement to some degree. But most of those "comparing" do it for purposes of slamming Stanzi. MY point is that unless/until JVB gets a bit more "composed", he won't reach Stanzi's level of success/leadership.

And to be fair, yesterday is far from "all on JVB". But to say he "led" us is a stretch. He looked out of his element at too many times.

Yet again you show you have no idea what you are talking about...totally cluess poster....

Okay, Mr. Genius, point out the "cluelessness". All you do is claim "clueless" and "uninformed" You make NO point--of ANY kind--that supports EITHER position.

Face it. JVB is not--at least a this point--everything we "assumed" he is/would be. To keep ranking on Stanzi (or any other QB) is baseless.

Show me YOU know what YOU are talking about.

You are the one arguing stupid stuff there...Once again thanks for showing how little you know...Stanzi won because of the D and the running game period. In fact they won alot in spite of him...not because of him.

JVB has some things to work on mainly the blitz pick up, but that is not all on him either and the one that happened in the red zone was really not on ihm period.

Stanzi won in spite of the D. Like at MSU in 2009 or at Wisconsin in 2009?

And it was Stanzi on the D that couldn't stop OSU or NW in 2010?

The running game "period"? That's a laugh. 2009 he LOST Shonn Greene AND Jewel Hampton before the season even began, Robinson and Wegher a game or two apiece to injuries. 2010 he lost Wegher before the season began, Hampton in game 3, and Robinson for a couple games to concussion issues.

I'm not saying Stanzi was "wonderful". I'm staying stop thinking JVB has Stanzi's poise or ability to shake off adversity. He has yet to win a road game. Two of those road games were against teams that we should not have had difficulty beating.

JVB is not the "answer". He might be next year. I really don't know.

As for "the running game period", again, you dismiss what Coker has done and is doing. He started slow, but he missed contact for most of camp. He certainly has run well enough to be thisclose to 1000 yards after 8 games. He will likely run for 1300-1500 yards this season. That's hardly "lack of running game".

We knew, coming into this season, that the O would have to carry the D. It hasn't happened in the three losses.

Truth is somewhere in the middle.

JVB is great is some respects and very poor in others. He's got a great arm. Very accurate when able to stand tall in the pocket. He's just plain excellent on the fade pass. He has decent speed when he scrambles. For his full year as a starter, he's done well, particularly at home.

But there are weakness and that's what people are complaining about. They're legit.

He is poor at reading defense. Not just at when they blitz, but also when they don't. He threw several hurried, bad passes when MN showed blitz and backed out of it. He also has audibled to several running plays that went into the teeth of the defense -- not sure if that's on him or whoever is teaching him the keys to read. He threw some unsavvy passes on 3rd and 4th down well short of the line to gain and the scramble at the end was a terrible decision. His accuracy plummets when the pocket collapses at all -- if he can't get his full, normal throwing motion he's innaccurate and the velocity drops a ton. He hasn't showed us any ability to throw on the move whatsoever this year.

Some of these can be fixed. Some will get better with experience. Some we may be stuck with. He's good, but he's not an All-Big Ten yet and he may never get to that level.

Hawkeyebob vs teh world, in a cage match!
Bob, I have to hand it to you, you're pretty feisty for an old retired guy living in FL. ;-)

Now let's talk about the real problem: the O-line and it's inability to pass protect. Ready? Go!

When people say stuff like this, their credibility goes out the window just as fast as the JVB sucks crowd.
