VandeBerg was awesome again Saturday..

He really was!!! The throw by CJB and catch by Vandeberg was the play of the game, great throw and catch!

Funny how many were doubting whether he should even be on the field earlier in the year. He's become a VERY good receiver.

I remember when Hawknick said VandeBerg would be a very good receiver for us and everybody made fun of him for saying such a thing. No. 89 is turning out to be a great go to receiver. Clutch catches galore!

When the first thing you hear about the guy (as a freshman) is, "He's catching EVERYTHING in practice, that gets your attention. Then when the only real issue he seemed to have last year and even a couple of times this year is drops, but he was getting open, you knew we might be onto something. When they double HIM when Tevaun Smith is out of the game, you know he's going to be a guy we are really going to both like and remember.

The guy I was impressed with Saturday was Jacob Hillyer (sans final on-side kick bobble). He clearly is one of our better receiver blockers (maybe ever). But in terms of getting open or actually being a weapon in the receiving corp, I was seeing little point in having him on the field. Bluntly Riley McCarron had done more in terms of pass-catching - a title you receive when you catch the winning TD at Iowa State. But Hillyer did well, and we will need more of that when we get to December and January.

As for Kittle and Krieger-Coble, am glad the "light came on" for these two. Our offense needs good tight ends, and in my world, hope is fading rapidly we'll ever see more than a plate of leftovers from Jake Duzey. That blasted injury must have just been too severe. But I no longer pine to get Duzey back (unless of course the injury bug doesn't stop...).

Yes he was. Him, HKK, Kittle, Hillyer, made catch after catch. Got just enough YAC as well. Doing exactly what they are supposed to do. Clutch throws from Casey Junior as well.

Slow, not athletic, keeping better players off the field.

/troll

Troll is when you say things just to upset people. Not giving a white receiver from nowheresville the benefit of doubt doesn't classify as being a troll. Or did you just troll me?

Bwahahahahahahaha....

Trolling isn't necessarily about upsetting people. Subtle trolls are the best trolls. Urban Dictionary: "One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument"

I also remember iowalaw questioning the sanity of our coaching staff for even offering him a scholarship.

Did anyone else hear the announcers Sunday constantly mispronounce HKK's name?

First it was Henry Krayger-Coble.
Then it was Henry Kryger-Coble.

Since they used an "A" sound and an "I" sound, I was waiting for them to us the "O" sound and "U" sound. My brother is the PA announcer for high school football games here (also was the state soccer PA announcer) and he goes and talks to the opponent coaching staff to make sure he says the names properly. You'd think someone getting paid what these announcers are being paid would take the time to at least appear to be professional.

Personally I never felt you trolled one single bit, and that actually bothered me even more than if I thought you were trolling. I just never understood even 1% of your or others Willies fanboy argument/stance.

I could have used "get people riled up" instead of "upset" but I was in a hurry and didn't want to type that many words. It all kinds means the same thing though doesn't it?

The truth is, a black guy and a white guy can make the exact same play and the black guy almosy always looks better doing it. It doesn't help production and it doesn't actually make the black guy better, but he does look better. When you couple that with Kirk losing a lot of fan's trust in making personell decisions, how is it so hard to understand how fans would assume Willies is better? Not to mention the fact that just because Vandeberg is obviously good, it doesn't automatically mean Willies was worse.

So HKC's one handed grab against Maryland looked less good than if Outsey had done it?
