VandeBerg out for the spring

Saw that HR's Blair Sanderson tweet that Matt reinjured his foot and will miss spring practice. Bummer

I guess a silver lining could be it gives Stanley a chance to build a rapport with some of the younger guys like Falconer or Young. We need someone else to break out desperately.

Seems like AIRRBG has moved onto the receivers sad to say. Gotta be some way to find a possession receiver who can make first downs. Next man in!

Smallish sample size, but he was averaging 15 yds/rec last year prior to injury, with a 25 yard rush thrown in for good measure. The rest of the WRs on the team averaged 12.7 yds/rec. I think he has graduated beyond being a possession receiver, at least at this level for this team.

I remember seeing him taking limited reps during bowl prep. I wonder if he tried to do too much too early and tweaked it again.

He always showed that capability. He averaged more yards per catch than Damond Powell or Derrick Willies in 2014, when folks were crying for more of them instead of MVB. That Wisconsin game, he and Rudock were tearing them up in big chunks and it was obvious the only things keeping posters calling him a possession receiver were his skin color, being from South Dakota, and their misinformed knowledge claiming he was a walkon (not understanding that gray shirts are NOT walkons, which he didn't end up having to use anyway). I'd imagine those will still pop up from time to time this next season, if he is healthy enough to play. The more catches you have in a season, the less you are going to average, so 2015 may have looked that way, but it wasn't a reflection of his talent and underrated speed, it was a reflection that when we needed a clutch catch, be it 5 yards or 15, he was the guy to deliver (along with HKC).

This sucks. It's hard to think he came back too early. Details - was it the same bone/same injury or something different?
