You do realize it's possible to like more than one coaching staff during the recruiting process, right? It's not like he liked Bo and his staff and hated everyone else.

Iowa bball was really bad when JU was recruited by Fran who was not a household name so liking Fran was only part of equation.

Fran had only been in Iowa for two months when he decided...Bo was recruiting him for a couple of years. Fran had not coached in the Big Ten when Uthoff made his decision...so he had no proof that Fran's style would translate to the Big Ten....now he does have proof.

The reason some of what he says doesn't jive is that he probably really liked Iowa but he had no assurances that early that Fran would turn the program around. He considered Wisconsin a next best option and he didn't want to be the first one to commit to a program that was trying to turn such a huge corner. Then he saw Fran get it going and Woodbury and Gesell got on board. Now he could come on board and start three years of playing as a Hawkeye after those guys had already played a year and it wasn't such a risk.

If you ever hear his story and think it doesn't make sense it is because he can't really tell the true story.

Jarrod is making a great sacrifice and taking a risk. How many kids today of his caliber would walk on to a rival conference team by paying his own way and risking injury? He had scholarship offers from Marquette to Florida but he chose to subject himself to all this criticism to play for Fran. He should be celebrated not ridiculed. Welcome home, Jarrod.

Fran is getting traction. Last year really convinced good players that Iowa is an attractive place to be. Don't underestimate a winning season, 4 or 5 "super" wins and the NIT bid. Those things matter.
