Valley QB Rocky Lombardi Talks About Sunday's Offer From Iowa

Very nice video highlights. Nice pocket awareness and moves away well from pressure, strong arm, good speed, nice double clutch and accuracy. Good size

It seems like he is really high on the Hawks but I def could see the interest in a school that puts out QBs to the league. What does your gut say here?

Wow. Well we didn't seem to be real high on him. Kind of surprising. Can't wait until AJ rocks Rocky over and over.

Kinda reminds me of the way Iowa often pitches recruits vs. some other majors.............we tell him he's our QB pick in this class and will get a fair shot but if it doesn't work out we think you can help us in other areas on the field. I have a feeling MSU & Dantonio probably pitched their opportunity a bit differently.

Can't help but notice MSU has a boat load of young highly touted WR's on deck in last year's class as well as the start with this year's class. That can't hurt in the equation for MSU especially compared to our arsenal at that position.

Am I the only one seeing this??

It is my understanding that Iowa offered him as a ATH, and MSU as a QB. Plus I guess the kid is a MSU fan, this is the offer he always wanted and he committed when he got it. Good for him and good luck to him, just not when they play Iowa!

Iowa told him he could start out at QB just they it did with Derby and Cook. To me, that's a QB offer. No need to spin it any other way.

The kid felt he fit better at MSU than Iowa just like Cedrick Lattimore felt like he fit better with the Hawks than the Spartans. And, the depth chart looks a lot more favorable for him in East Lansing than it does in Iowa City.

Telling a kid he can "start off at QB" is a big, big difference than say, yeah we see you as a QB. Do you think they told Nathan Stanley that he is a QB or that he can "start off as a QB"?

It it might be a little bit of semantics, but to me that is a big difference.

Can't blame the kid for going to MSU. Their track record for developing QBs is much better than Iowa's

I think it's semantics, but that's just my opinion.

Guys change positions all the time, at Iowa and elsewhere. And I'm sure if things don't work at QB for him at MSU, he'd have to consider changing positions just like he would at Iowa. Or, he could transfer, like plenty of guys do. We don't know what the future holds for of Boyle and Cook, either. Chances are good one or both of those guys will have a decision to make.

I know Rocky from the recruiting process and have talked about these things with him. He's not blind. He knows he's going to have to prove himself as a QB wherever he goes no matter what he's told. He did not choose MSU because they guaranteed him he would be a QB and we only told him he could "start out" or "will be brought in" as a quarterback. He liked MSU better than us. As I said, Cedrick Lattimore chose us despite heavy pressure from the Spartans.

I'm not calling you out, Dean. You're a great member of this board. I'm just trying to represent the truth as best as I can based on what I know.

has he even made an official visit anywhere? He obviously wants to be at MSU if he commits this early.

Prospects can't officially visit schools until their senior year of high school begins. That rule needs to change. In basketball, they can officially visit starting in January of their junior years, I believe.
