Uthoff Invited to Draft Combine, Jok is Not

I see this argument, but on the other hand, at Iowa he was expected to be the star and take the team on his shoulders. That's a lot of pressure. He won't have those expectations in the NBA, and can hopefully come off the bench for some good solid minutes each game, and just do what he does without feeling that he has to score 30 per game for his team to win.

If he lands in a good situation, you're right he definitely could develop into a guy that could give you solid minutes off the bench. I really hope he does prove me wrong.

The "Tweener" argument is getting old. The league is actually moving towards teams wanting tweeners and small ball stretch 4s. So stop saying that'll hurt him. Who doesn't want a 6'9" shooter/shot blocker/ball-handler????
Saw a mock draft with Spurs picking him up. Seems like a great fit for both parties to me.

You can say it's getting old to be calling Uthoff a tweener but who in the NBA can Uthoff guard? There's two ends of the floor and when it comes to guys like Paul George, Harrison Barnes, LBJ, Kawahi Leanord, Durant, I can go on and on but those types of players he can't guard. And he's not big/strong/quick enough to guard guys like Draymon Green or even a Paul Milsap. Uthoff is great at guarding when his guy don't have the ball as a help defender but how's he going to do man up when there's no zone in the NBA really? I'm not trying to sound like I'm bashing him it's just that half the league or more will be just really tough for him to match up with at one side of the court that's not even talking about what his offensive game may be. Which I think will be something similar to Channing Frye who's with Cleveland now. I think that's his type of role at the NBA level... We'll see..

Agreed, he might be an undrafted free agent. I think he is too small for the 4 spot. He has to find a way to guard the 3 spot or he will be in the D League/Overseas.

I saw some NBA evaluator rated him the 62nd best draft prospect. It's gonna be close as to whether he gets drafted or not.

You do realize NO ONE can check KD, lebron, ect and NO ONE expects Uthoff to be able to guard them. You are missing my point completely...that him being the tweener is the match-up problem for other teams. And certain teams can use his size and unique skill set to their advantage (like the spurs). Your argument is the same one everyone has used against tweeners: "they cant guard anyone, too small or too big and slow". NBA is about creating matchup problems and exploiting them. Jarrod can do that plain and simple. Defense is overrated ion the league and its not even like Jarrod lacks in that department at all.

Jarods for all that he's good at isn't that quick. He has a fairly good handle but his moves are slow and methodical. If he's being guarded by players of similar size most all of them are going to be quicker/faster then him in the NBA. His post up game still leaves a lot to be desired. He's a shorter poor mans Dirk Nowitzki is about the best comparison to him I can think of. But he's not on that level of being a shooter by any means not yet. Can he carve out a role like that in the NBA to a lessor degree? Perhaps but don't look for him to shock the league like a Draymon Green has and do a little bit of everything and be a big impact any time soon that would really surprise me.

If I were Uthoff and was told my career would be similar to Channing Frye's I'd be over the top happy. Dude's been in the league for 10 years and this year alone is making over $8 million.

I think he'd take that with no complaints too.. I sure would. But people that think he's going to play as well as say a Harrison Barnes and be in the running for a max deal down the road possibly are really reaching... Barnes turned down some crazy amount of money it wasn't quite max money which he may or may not have turned down too last off season not only just him betting on himself but because their salary cap is about to jump significantly. He's going to get rich(er) because he's an ok/good player on a great team and if the Warriors don't choose to pay him some other team I'm sure will.

And the money is only going to go up there is going to be so many dudes that are going to get overpaid in the next 2 or 3 years......If he can just sneak into that 1st round, get that rookie deal and maybe flash enough to get that 2nd contract.
