Uthoff could play more minutes

He's more productive and less of a liability than Zach McCabe.

McCabe's minutes could be cut to less than 10 and this team would perform better.

I don't want to go suck a big one because it's annoying to see a player suck a big one on the court and I don't want to follow in that example.
 
I like that lineup. Definitely should have used that on Sat since Ogelsby was hot.
I'd also rather see Gabe and Woody at the same time.
Has to be better than McCabe and Woody or McCabe and Gabe.

They have to be experimenting with this in practice.
 
I fear that Fran is invested in McCabe on an emotional level now. Will play him even when it's not justified.

I would agree with you to an extent. I would like Uthoff to see more minutes and without looking at the box scores, I believe over the last 2-3 games his minutes have gone up. I believe Clemmons gave decent minutes against Wisky, but it is all about match ups. When we went zone in the 2nd half, I thought a lineup of Gesell, Ogs, Marble, White, and Uthoff could have been effective. It isn't a tall group, but the length of the group and movement of the group is important in the zone. That is my take. Also, I would like to see the rotation still shortened to 8 guys getting a majority of the minutes and McCabe and AC getting 5-10 minutes a game.

You didn't learn your lesson when you called in to Fran's show this week about McCabe?
 
I think its some of the people on these boards fault a lot more than McCabe. He seems to be a guy that cares to much, and seems affected by what people think. Hes the latest guy in the last three years some of the people on these boards have picked on. If he could learn to just relax he would be a lot better.
 
I'd guess Fran has strong reasons for supporting/playing McCabe. Last year, he expressed similar support for Oglesby while the fans bashed away. Oglesby has shown us why Fran has been strongly supportive and is a key player for the Hawks. McCabe has been streaky, but he can hit the three pointer and scrap close to the basket. McCabe gives the Hawks a big body banging around on defense and an inside/outside shooter on offense who will scrap for rebounds. McCabe is a great off the bench guy with good energy. He's not as effective against quick athletic teams, but can be valuable when he understands his role. I'm sure Fran's support is an attempt to build confidence in Zach and get him to be more consistent. The best teams have a variety of role players who's skills support the starters. Zach will win us a game soon with a few three pointers at crucial times. Fran's building this team for an NCAA run.

Are you an athletic director or general manager, what are your qualification in being able to discern if he could be a good coach or not?

I know you are trying to defend McCabe, but you have basically reduced him down to being a weak child. It's somehow the fault of fans that he missed a shot, because he can't handle a little pressure. I have a higher view of him than that, I think he's bad at basketball, but at least I view him as a man.

Lil' Lickliter
Eric May
Zach McCabe
 
I was looking at the yearly stats including this year for some of the players. I believe Utoff has the highest shooting percentage for 2s and 3s even over Marble. The reason I was doing this is because of people picking on White who's percentages have went down with this his worst year. Bu is Utoff physical enough? That can only be seen with minutes. Funniest thing I noticed was people harping about White's outside shot and saying Basabe this and Olaseni that. Between the two they've taken one 3 and missed. McCabe worked hard through the worst years and bangs hard. He's going to see minutes. He's a senior and he's got heart. His percents aren't that off the mark from the lovefest players.
 
This is where our DEPTH is really hurting us. We are not developing players like Uthoff. And DON'T call any Hawks "liabilities" or you'll get in trouble.

Yeah, it's got to be that. I couldn't be what he does in practice every day, because we can all see what he does in practice every day..... wait a minute...
