USC v. Arizona

Other than the obvious answer of bias for USC, can someone explain to me why people keep citing USC's game at the end of the season against a now ranked Arizona team as such a great SOS game that would help them jump other teams including Iowa? Have people really forgotten that Iowa already beat AZ by 10 points?

If USC were to win, this is exactly why. By December 5th, when this game is to be played, we'll have been done with our season for 2 weeks (thanks B10). USC will have not one but two opportunities to impress human voters, which is where they will pass us if they pass us at all. Our computer rankings are strong enough to keep us near the top, but USC in the national media is a goldmine, and I don't know if an idle Iowa team can hold off a media-darling USC team for not one, but two weeks.

Having said that, I am going to be the biggest Wildcat fan east of Arizona on Dec 5th!

I hope AZ takes 'em out and Iowa wins out, then this USC garbage will end for a time!

I have this crazy dream that Iowa will be ranked 5th in the BCS on December 5th and Texas will lose in the B12 title game, USC will lose to Arizona and the SEC will split leaving Iowa in 2nd. That would be awesome.

I have a feeling that USC would lose a game before they face Arizona, like either Saturday against Oregon State, later on against Oregon or against UCLA. It seems the Bruins are always up to face the Trojans.

No need to worry. USC is going to lose at least one more game before Dec. 5. Every team in the Pac 10 hates USC and will be gunning for them every week. USC is really no that good this year. Probably a 12 or 13 in the polls.

If Arizona can manage a win over USC, that could really help us with the late BCS rankings (strength of schedule would be buffed up in computer polls and human pollsters should be looking at AZ winning as a bonus for Iowa).
