USC JR/SR can transfer

Tyron Smith, junior left tackle, is the only guy I could see coming to Iowa and stepping in to an OL spot for sure. I think a number of guys will transfer and see playing time right away, but I think it will be SEC schools and west coast schools that see most of the benefit.
Edit: I guess I thought Kris O'Dowd (senior center) had graduated. He would start for almost any team in America.

This just sounds real shady. Some other schools can actively recruit their seniors and juniors? How would you like it if you were a guy like Tarp who has put in 5 years to finally earn a starting position and then Iowa just takes some starting LB from USC for the season?

I wouldn't feel any differently than if they brought in a JuCo transfer (not that it IS the same, I would just FEEL the same way) for a year or two. Doing things within the rules (and clearly, this would be within the rules) is fine in my book.

They should offer the same deal to the recently signed recruits that were told that this NCAA investigation would not be anything to worry about.

This in effect is an additional penalty to USC. Yes it's a nice thing to do for the kids but when you combine this with the ban on post season I wouldn't be suprised if they lost more than half of their Juniors and Seniors.

It might worth mentioning that this would require said player to leave Southern California and move to Iowa. Just saying...

Actual language from the report of the NCAA committee:

"The committee seriously considered the imposition of a television ban as a penalty in this case. After lengthy discussion, the committee ultimately decided that the imposition of other significant penalties, as set forth here, adequately responded to the nature of the violations found in this case and the level of institutional responsibility. Therefore, a television ban need not be imposed. The committee notes, however, that the television ban is a penalty designed in part to ameliorate extensive and positive media and public attention gained by a program through commission of violations. The committee also notes that the decision in this case not to impose the penalty was a very close call. All student-athletes, coaches, administrators, boosters and agents must understand that violations of NCAA rules have severe consequences"

Loss of scholarships, no post season play and a television ban? If this had happened, how long do you think it would take them to recover?

I am under no illusion that Iowa is getting any of these guys ... but it would be awesome if they went to UCLA, etc.

This. It would do more harm to team morale than anything.
