What was with the refs? Facemask: no call, offensive PI: called defensive on Iowa, late hit on Wetjen: flag picked up, if usc catches that ball Wetjen did: called a catch usc hurry’s u and no review. The the assistant coach flag right at the exact moment they needed something to get a first down to win the game. Even the announcers said that usually a warning. Criminal.

I didn’t hate the lamb, it just wasn’t what I was used to. Also, the closest place to me that I can get lamb is a 60 mile drive one way

Yep. It doesn't seem like they're playing the same game as my school. I hate pissing in players' Cheerios, but when they say they're being recruited for football, they're getting form letters. I would just tell them to watch that game and see if they could compete with those guys...or their JV's.

Iowa just doesn’t have the athletes like USC/Oregon do. There comes a point where size, speed, and strength are the difference and it is what it is. You can compete against teams like that when they don’t adjust, but if you give Lincoln Riley a 20 minute trip to the locker room to talk it out it’s not gonna end up going well for you. I'm sure that the fire Ferentz people around the state won't understand this, but that was a helluva coaching job to keep this team within 5 points of USC. Not just today or this week, but how the teams have been developed from the time the guys on both teams came out of high school.

How many positions did we have better athletes than them? Not players, but athletes. They take their 4/5 star guys, coach them, and throw them out there and watch them make plays. We take our guys, coach them up to fit our scheme, and win a lot of games.

Not for nothing but losing is losing. And it’s getting old. Up 21-10 at half. Defense is bringing pressure, offense using motion and tricks to keep USC on their toes.
USC coaches made adjustments at half. Kirk shuts down the Iowa mojo and runs the conservative, bend but don’t break crap. And like most of the time it bites them in the ass.
As far as development, Iowa developing QBs and WR is non existent

Ahh yep. The form letters. When my kid started putting up good times he got a bunch of those. It’s coaches casting a wide net hoping they’ll catch something. I was honest with him about it and thankfully he didn’t take it too serious.

One thing I learned is it’s not really serious until you start getting reached out to with phone calls or texts from coaches.

The other thing that’s crazy is the way the serious ones communicate nowadays. For him it was DMs on social media. That’s how pretty much all the actual visits we took and offers started. A college coach would call his HS coach and then send him a private message on Instagram lol. They’d swap phone numbers on that then start texting and it went from there.

Again, it’s not like the 90s anymore. Made me laugh at how those coaches/recruiters have to operate so different now with these kids in the social media age. Now I understand why those kids almost have to have social media these days if they want to get recruited unless they’re super elite. One thing I told him when all that stuff started is this is why you don’t post sketchy shit that you do with your buddies on SM. It’s the first thing coaches look at when they think they might be interested in you.
