Speaking only for myself, it has nothing to do with him being the announcer at ISU. I've listened to his radio show a few times, and I just don't like his style. I think he gets defensive and belligerent for no reason sometimes (i.e., he assumes people are or will disagree with something he's saying). I also think he's kind of a crappy interviewer -- the kind that ask softball questions that are longer than the answer. Also, the times I've listened, I got really tired of his MMA promotion. That's just me; I have no interest in MMA and don't particularly want to hear a 10-minute monologue about it when I'm tuning in to hear about college wrestling.
Anyway, it's all a matter of personal taste. I understand some people really like him, and that's fine. I also understand pin's point about wrestling needing coverage. I just don't think we should automatically be happy with any old crappy coverage instead of asking for/expecting quality coverage. Just my opinion, and obviously the criteria for "crappy" varies widely.
