USA East All-Stars (Gesell and Woody)

It would be nice if the 7'1" team leader averaged more than .1 dunks per game.

I was in college when they again allowed players to dunk. They outlawed it just before this gangly New York kid named Lew Alcindor (later known as Kareem Abdul Jabbar) started his NCAA career at UCLA (they didn't allow freshman to play on the varsity teams in college then either). To quote my college basketball coach, the legendary Lewis "Buzz" Levick, "I wish that God@$&# idiot who allowed the God@$&# dunk rule back was hung on these God@$&# rafters!"

Helluva coach.....watched many games in the old gymnasium as a kid growing up...I kind of remember an Ellis playing around that time, or at least I thought there was an Ellis kid...My cousin would have graduated from there around '77, married a Cheesman, place kicker for the football team...

The BT better watch out for Woody and Mike this year. They will be different players than a year ago and it will have a big impact on the conference race. Break out year.

I really hope so but after last season I'm not buying it until the season gets going. These two aren't playing Big Ten, UNC, ISU, Texas talent. They are doing this against Estonia and in PTL street ball.

If last year is making you gun shy, you probably shouldn't buy it until there are 5 games left in the season.

The "Ellis kid" was Matt Ellis. He is the #7 all-time scorer and #6 all-time rebounder at Wartburg. He was a freshman when I was a senior. Great guy. Last I knew (about 10 years ago) he was a teacher in the KC area.

Cheesman was classmate of mine, I think - class of '78. He was a defensive end as well as the kicker. He kicked the 50+ yard field goal to beat our arch-rival Luther 3-0 on a cold day in late October.

The place has changed a lot. The W is amazing. Levick Arena is very nice, and I believe the floor has some parts that were salvaged from Knights Gymnasium. Plus, Walston-Hoover Stadium boasts a jumbotron that shows replays; while not as big or as impressive as Kinnick it is excellent for DIII
