Tallinn, Estonia - USA East Coast made the most of their five practices leading up to today's game against Estonia's Tallinna Kalev. The American All Stars fired on all cylinders as they cruised to a 103-59 victory. The overall team effort had 7 of the 10 players in double figures. Syracuse's Tyler Roberson led the way with a double double of 13 points and 14 rebounds in just under 19 minutes. Every player on the roster had exceptional moments in the contest and the effort level was maintained throughout. South Carolina Coach Frank Martin expressed his happiness following the game, "I was extremely excited about how together our guys played on both ends. We limited them to 33% from the field and had 25 assists. A 59-30 rebounding advantage showed the effort our guys played with. ". Iowa's Adam Woodbury dominated the paint while his Hawkeye teammate Mike Gesell posted 10 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals. The South Carolina tandem of Tyrone Johnson and Sindarius Thornwell combined for 25 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals. The BT better watch out for Woody and Mike this year. They will be different players than a year ago and it will have a big impact on the conference race. Break out year.

It will be really interesting to see if Woody carries this rebounding prowess into the regular season. It's fine to do it in the PTL but the achievement is deceiving. Dominating the paint on a national team is another indication that we could see Woody on the rise, so to speak, this year.

Great find thanks for posting. Hope they stay healthy and improving. If Woody can go for 10pts and 5 or 6 boards a game next year that'd be great.

I agree. I think they along with White will be the team leaders. I keep hearing Woody is really taking over as a leader

Now that Woody's body is maturing they will probably use him a lot different this year. He probably will do a lot more pushing than getting pushed around this year. His rebounding and scoring should go up. Olesani is going to be a lot stronger this year, and with White and Uthoff they should be pretty tough on the boards. Its going to be hard to believe that they won't go inside a lot more this year if the other team slows the Iowa fast break. The team is going to look a lot different from last year. Iowa could be pretty lethal from the outside too.

If Woodbury can carry that kind of performance over into the conference and with Oleseni getting stronger they could a major force to be reckoned with. With Uthoff also showing possible great potential and White being just White we should be looking pretty impressive in those positions.

Then there is the guard situation. I expect to see Oglesby to show consistency in his three point capabilities and continued improvement in his movement inside of the perimeter. Dickerson will bring fast break quickness and great passing skills to the guard position. Gesell also brings experience and the ability to shoot the ball from any where on the floor. If Clemmons can bring to the regular season what he has shown in the PTL then the guard position is going to be fun to watch all these players comPETE. Then their is Peter who showed great potential towards the end of the season. When he gets going and on a streak he will drive opponents defences crazy.

A lot of of "ifs" here but there is a lot of potential for this team to surprise. Would love to see all of it come together.

Update on game number two. Article says Gesell took over down the stretch. Woody decent game, but sounded like some foul trouble:

It would be nice. But its not my number one concern with the team. Is it yours ?

Correct, whether woody dunks one time this year or 100 times is kind of like talking about how much you can bench. It's dumb and what a lot of dumb guys talk about.

Yeah, because you get so many extra points for dunks.

Misterneverplayedbasketball: you get the same amount of points per basket, however, the dunk is the highest percentage shot in basketball. Therefore, it is more likely that you will make more of them. Going 48-50 on dunks vs. going 42-50 on dunkable layups. Which one of those scenarios gets you more points?

LOL Afraid he has me by at least a foot. But I can probley get as far off the floor. I really do think the kid is going to be a player next year. I know some don't and that's OK. But I do
