Urban Meyer Press Conference

I liked the questions. Not a lot of softball stuff that you get at Iowa press conferences. To the point...did you miss your team being flat (implication, it's the coaches fault)? What was JT seeing to throw into coverage (for christ's sake he a veteran Heisman candidate)? You could tell old Urban was getting steamed a few times.

Maybe he didn’t see the letdown coming because it wasn’t a letdown during the week. Like iron Mike said, “everyone’s got a plan til they get punched in the mouth.”

Well #1 a coach like Meyer doesnt lose much at OSU so you dont have tough questions asked many times. Their media and coaches have it easy most times post game.

I heard Urban was very snipping and very short answers like "no" and "i dont know"

I loved the look on Urban's face when someone mentioned JTs 4 picks. It's like he just realized that was a fact and had this total look of disbelief.

Lol just having fun. I realize Rob was just reporting what the team believed.

I know, I have just been a little upset at the losses at MSU and jNW because I think we do have a pretty potent offense that was just not being used right (and turnovers, drops, and penalties hurt in those two road losses).

I agree.

Ya we killed ourselves with execution. I think we stuck to the format offensive and defensively specifically to set up the OSU game. We hit them with stuff that we haven't ran much therefore very little tape to prepare for it.

I believe Kirk, Brian and Phil liked the chances of a straight up game against MSU, Northwestern and even PSU. We were close in all those games so I suppose they were right. I think the coaches knew we had to throw the kitchen sink at OSU and break tendencies. I definitely think we caught OSU way off guard even though they won't admit it.

What exactly was he supposed to say? He was as shocked as everyone else on the face of the earth. Although I'm seeing a lot of "Urban is 7-3 in his last 10", which translate to the writer implying that Urban is overrated. Which is a blindingly stupid take, but there it is.

Yes. I definitely think he could have admitted they they prepared for a different Iowa attack then what they saw. His ego stands in his way of admitting normal human fallacy. I think his fan base would understand the fact that they spent all week changing things for a game plan that Iowa didn't use. I'm not sure any team or coach could have been prepared for Iowa to change so much. Maybe a few could have overcome it, but certainly not many. We truly trapped OSU and I have to believe it was planned all season long.

Terrible line of questioning IMO, don't ask a coach a question he can answer with a Yes or No.

Look, a team as talented as Ohio State shouldn't get molly-whopped by 31 points just because the Hawks changed up their game plan (though I disagree that the game plan was that different... it was that the execution was almost perfect).

Yes execution was on a new level agreed. But the game plan, the sets, and the tendencies were most definitely different. Sometimes changes aren't obvious but they were there.

I had posted something like this earlier. Iowa has upgraded talent. In one comment somewhere UM said something about being baited.

Would you rather be 7-2 or 8-1 and maybe not having this win? Interesting thought.

OSU outside of Barrett looks to me to be in trouble as far as being a power. Take away Barrett and I think Iowa has the better team and not just by a little bit.
