I'm not sure its a focus on speed, but rather that coupled with a better fit. Under Davis, we targeted plenty of speed guys like Parker, Andre Harris, Falconer, Powell, J. Smith, and a few others, but for one reason or another most of them never panned out. I think Davis had such an emphasis on straightline speed that he forgot guys need to be able to separate themselves from the defender, which I think is what we're seeing now.It feels to me like all else equal, we're favoring speed a bit more over other attributes or other intangibles. That's a necessity IMO and I'm happy to (finally) see it.
B. Smith, ISM, and I think T. Tracy, among others, all have that knack for finding openings in space or catching difficult throws that we haven't had since the days of McNutt and DJK, and I think they're going to continue that, as Desmond Hutson is another big-body guy in the vein of B. Smith that can go up and fight for 50/50 balls.
