The Illini are very bad but have beat some teams, but I just dont know why or what happened especially last week that the hawks couldnt get 5 big plays to beat jNW by 17 points

I'm wondering if Nate's thumb was downplayed, or if something happened in practice the week before PSU. Since then until this week he just hasn't been the same player.

Think ur right about thumb....he had no zip on ball after PS. Backup qbs must really suck to stick with a guy who can only throw 10 yards

He still had zip, just no touch.

As for the backups, well if Mansells first pass was any indicator, they're just not ready.

With the kid from Cali and some of the other guys coming off redshirt next year the back up QB competition is going to be one of the hottest battles in camp

I liked seeing Fant playing 62% of the snaps, but still only targeted 3 times. Still miffed he wasn’t used effectively in 3 prior losses. Still puzzles me. Very happy for AJ Epenesa. What a fine showing for him. Look forward to see him as a fulltime starter next year. A win against Nebby next week would be nice, but again, our 4 losses this year left a bad taste in my mouth, especially when we should if won them all. I put the blame more on the coaching staff this year, more than the players. Some of the game calling and game planning just didn’t seem logical to me at times this year.

Nate was bad before he hurt his thumb come on. It was very clear the play he hurt it in the PSU game. He hit it on Render's helmet as he was being pushed back into him. His thumb was fine before that, which I believe was in the 4th quarter when it happened. Nate looks decent against the likes of Minny, Indiana, Illinois, you know the bottom of the barrel teams, and even then his throws are off target. He is bad against any team with a pulse on defense. That Illinois team was absolutely awful. We beat a high school team today, and people all of a sudden think we have it figured out. This is why KF is still the coach here.

By my count the D and special teams basically accounted for four 4 TDs (AJE, punt block brought inside red zone, punt return, Hooker int return inside red zone)

Brian kept the foot on the gas to pad his offensive numbers.

Other than that Lovie’s Beard is kind of stupid when his team is getting whacked every game and Champaign looks like a dump.
