Brommer has shown nothing to date that he needs to start, yes he played some good games last year, but not as a starter. McCabe is a more offensive weapon, not sure if weapon is the proper word there, but he passes well and can shoot the ball. He has the toughness to replace some of what Cole did last year, but he has too much of a temper. Marble needs to be on the floor period, doesn't matter what position, he is ugly when he plays, but he does go places and he actually plays defense, quite the concept really.
May has had too many chances, way too many. When Marble has to play PG, bring in Oglesby and put a shooter on both wings while Marble drives. White can come in and play the 3/4 and be that garbage player that Iowa needs off the bench, high energy and choosing the right shot to take, not just the first one that looks good. Brommer can play off the bench when McCabe undoubtly gets into foul trouble and if the is a ton of foul trouble, start giving Olaseni more minutes, against bigger teams, Iowa is going to need Olaseni to play as McCabe may be overmatched and have to slide to the four and rotate with Basabe. I am not so sure that Basabe should be starting any longer either, but he showed last season he deserves some more chances with the way he started the season, didn't think it would be a repeat though, he definitely should not be a focal point of the offense.

i think it is funny MAY and Marble were the only 2 in dbl figures in scoring last night
to completely taking away all his minutes away
i have been of the opinion he would be better off the bench
some players are starters and others are better coming off the bench

Off the bench McCabe, Archie, White. Thats an 8 man rotation that give us the best chance to win from what Ive seen.

I just don't see any more reason to play two guards who are completely incapable of creating their own shot, aren't good jump shooters and aren't good passers. I just don't see any point in it.

No other teams on any level have guards that cannot create their own shot.

Its absolutely mandatory that you either be able to create your own shot or knock down long range shots to play the guard position.

Yet, you have Oglesby as a starter...and play Archie...

You are not smart

Have you seen any games? Do you watch Matt? He is made of steel. His defense, his leadership, his floor sense are incredible. As to points, he is targeted on a team that frankly, does not have a lot of offensive fire power...what do you expect to happen?

You are hopeless.

I've seen all but a couple of this years games. He has been such a huge disappointment. Glad he's a senior. Need to get some of Fran's boys on the floor.

Busabus. To respond to a couple of your posts about suggested starting lineups. YOU are indeed not smart. Then again, your photo tells the story. Go back to sleep buddy.

The only input I have given is Gatens should be in the starting lineup - you disagree with that?

Gaten is a starter and will remain a starter
the thing that is hard to believe is people wanting Oglesby starting
Olgesby is a good shooter but at this stage in is career that is all
he tried to play the point and got stripped clean he needs muscle so he can keep from getting stripped
i will wait til next year for better results, until then i plan on enjoying this team compete night in and night out, win or lose

next season roster will be stocked

pg Gesell 6'1 Clemmons 6'2
sg Marble 6'6/7 Oglesby 6'5 Ingram 6'3
sf White 6'8 May 6'5
pf Basabe 6'7 McCabe 6'7 Meyer 6'10
C Woodbury 7'1 Olaseni 6'11

the best thing is we lose just May from that group, the ability to mix and match is alot better
there also is 2 players at each position unlike this year, where we have Marble playing out of position

Oglesby probably wont ever make a good point guard but he has decent handles for a 2 guard. He is also the best shooter on the team. I'm not saying he should start but the idea isn't a horrible one. I sure am liking next years lineup, especially in 2 years

I think Ogelsby over May could definitely make sense. May doesnt bring much to the table imo

He looks good with the pull up at the free throw line. That's really the only shot he has but it's pretty effective. He needs to do that more IMO

Busabus. Agree with your comment about Gatens 100%. Ogelsby and White also need to start. Period. End of discussion. We are going NOWHERE this year yet Fran continues to start the same 5 that won us all of what, 11 or 12 games last year? Both Ogelsby and White have shown that indeed they are still freshmen (struggled at times) yet they also have shown tremendous potential and upside. Fran is killing both of their confidence levels at this point as our rotation changes from game to game. May has been given so many chances at this point its almost comical as he continues to be very, very inconsistent. PLAY THE FRESHMEN and let them get a ton of experience under their belts!

Wow talk about having no idea about the game of basketball...just wow.

I don't think allot of you fully realize how big of a disadvantage it is to have not one but two guards who absolutely cannot create anything off of the dribble for themselves or others, its a killer. Not to mention are horrible passers.

Just think about how many wide open shots other teams get and then think about how few Iowa gets, that should help put it in perspective a bit.

We don't get any open shots because we play two guards who cant ever get around their man so the opposing defense never has to help or get out of position. Its kills us.

Seriously, Zach McCabe is better driving the ball than two of our Guards.

I don't actually think Gatens shouldn't be in the rotation, but Im just sick of what Im seeing half the time.

I do think Marble and Ogelsby should be getting the most PT at the 2 and 3 though.

It doesn't really matter when no one can make a shot. This is truly a full team effort to be this crappy. You say who will drive, I say who will make the shott off the pass? I say who will make the shot off the pass, you say who will pass it to the shooter in the first place. Rebounding.
