“He is still sore,â€￾ Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said Monday on the Big Ten coaches’ teleconference. “He has been seen by our doctors and he has been getting treatment. He’ll be re-evaluated Wednesday morning and we’ll see where it is then."

“But right now it is day-to-day and continuous treatment.â€￾

Not buyin it. Something is broken. but time will tell I guess.

I buy it, because he wouldn't be talking to the press after the game, walking around with the arm free of a sling.

However, a shoulder stinger could last for more than a week, although most of them last less than that.

Whn is saw it happen, my first thought was broken collar bone, but that would have been diagnosed already, so i find the stinger probable.

Yeah, I would think that White would have had x-rays and maybe an MRI by now.. So I'll have to trust the coaches when they say this is day to day.

It's a ploy....Wisconsin buys it, then sees Whitey in uniform, Whitey lights 'em up for 26, Bo starts cryin', says, "That's not fair Fran", and then runs into the locker room never to be seen again.....;)

In Jon's podcast they discuss how Jon has had a couple of physicians tell him that it looks like much more than a stinger to them. Again, it's all just conjecture at this point. We'll all know for sure how hurt he is on Saturday.

Exactly! "Day-to-Day"... [snort] Might as well say he's out 2 weeks - they both have the same likelihood of accuracy.

Torn ligament in his shoulder area or badly bruised just from watching the replay.
You just can't tell but I would doubt anything is broken from this.

Whatever it is I hope we hold him out until the Michigan game if he's less than 100%. Wisconsin isn't a good match-up for White's game and I won't be shocked if we lose the Wisconsin game with or without White. Michigan has no inside game and almost beat Wisconsin so that might be the way to go anyway. We really need him back February 12 against Minnesota. That's when we start the 8 game stretch where we should win at least 6.

Paint that picture however you want...it is not good! Of course I have tickets to the game on Saturday...would not surprise me if he gets a shot and plays!

Was there a Scherff like 'secret' surgery then?

Even with a "stinger"... one hit to the nerve and it could rise to a 10 on the pain scale again. And, with White's propensity for going after run-out steals it will most likely hinder him all year.

The week off couldn't have came at a better time.

A break or separation would have shown up already but a soft tissue tear might need a CAT scan to evaluate. He could have swelling in a bursa sac which can weaken you, limit range of motion, and cause pain. I had than and 10 seconds after a shot it was gone though.

As someone else said a ligament or tendon tear, muscle tear rather than just a nerve type 'stinger'

Ligament or muscle damage would be much worse than a breaking of a bone.... Hopefully it is just a stinger. Otherwise he could be gone for a long time...

If by "shot" you are saying hypodermic needle to inject a pain-deadening agent, I hope he NEVER gets a shot to play. If he needs a shot to play, he should not be on the floor. Period.

I agree with you however players feel loyal to teammates coaches and fans and a lot of times they take these shots. Their intentions are good but it's a dangerous game to play because it can result in a much more severe injury.
