Unofficial NASCAR thread

Is Nascar getting like pro wrestling? Last year Danica on the pole, (yeah I know), and this year with the 3 back in use, Dillon is on the pole. Sounds kind of questionable to me.

Saturday night was a great Sprint Unlimited. Racing was much better than last year.

Its too bad half the field was taken out in one wreck. It'll be interesting to see the number of wrecks in the 500 with the closing rates the cars have now. I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar to last year where everyone just gets in one line for the first half of the race.

NASCAR is doing a great job trying to kill their sport. They're doing anything they can to stop Johnson winning it again.

88! FINALLY! That 500 was awesome. I haven't screamed that much since the '05 Cap One!

It was definitely one of the better ones. After the delay was ridiculous. It was crazy to see two/three wide racing for that long of a stretch without anyone wrecking.

This isn't a problem unique to NASCAR (as an F1 follower, I can tell you it happens there to - i.e. dominant drivers)

You can either try to address it and **** off a lot of people b/c you're meddling with the integrity of the race, or you can let it play out and **** off a lot of people because they are sick of so-and-so winning every week.

You have to be kidding me. Out of fuel on turn 3! This has happened already to Jr. Hopefully this isn't the start of a bad streak.

I couldn't believe it. He's definitely got the stuff this year to be dominate. Unfortunately, the way that the chase is set up means that right now doesn't matter much.

Typical Gordon luck. Leading with 2 laps to go. Caution comes out. Terrible restart. Finish 13th
Gordon should have never pitted.
If he stays out, some others will also stay out and would provide a cushion between him and any cars with new tires (2 or 4).
I thought it was a horrible call by his crew chief.

I thought he made the right choice by pitting. Others tried staying out on old tires earlier in the race and they got run over on the restarts. Two tires may have been the way to go, but I doubt he would have won that way either.
What really killed him was Cassill staying out. That made him start on the inside when he was way better on the outside. That and his crew was terrible and got him out behind 3 other guys that took 4 tires.
