UNI seed

A lot of my friends are big fans of UNI. They think UNI will get a 5 seed if they win the tourney. Does anyone think this is possible?

I really think a 7 is about as good as they could hope for. The Evansville loss last week really got noticed by a lot of people. That gives them 2 bad losses. Some idiots even think that they won't get in if they don't win the MVC tourney. I say at worst they get a 9. Great season though whatever happens.

Lunardi had them as a 7 seed after their evansville loss. If they win the MVC tourney my guess is they might be able to get to a 6 seed. If they lose they will probably be an 8 seed

Drake was only a 5 a few years ago and had a better season.
I don't see anything higher then a 7 as the Valley is really down and weak.

Drake lost 3 games that year, UNI currently has 4 losses. If they win the Valley tournament plus a few other teams in line for similiar seeds go down early in their tournaments, UNI could easily end up a 5 seed. But I think, they're probably looking at a 6 right now if they at least make it to title game, and an 8 or 9 if they lose early.

0%. I would literally bet my house on it. It's a one bid league and they lost to the worst team.

I would be shocked if they earned above a 7 seed...

and not sure they deservere any better than a 8/9. RPI is by far the highest ranking of UNI by any of the computer formulas. Pomeroy has UNI at 45, and Sagarin at 38 (52 if you go by Predictor, which takes into account margin of victory). The issue is they simply have not beaten many good teams. Siena, Old Dominion and Wichita State are good wins.

They've been hurt by Iowa and Iowa State being so miserable. Those wins look less and less impressive as Iowa and ISU have been beaten by everyone decent in the Big 12 and Big 10.

Don't take this the wrong way, they should definitely be included in the NCAA's no matter what happens at the Mo Valley tournament. But a 5 seed is not warranted for a team with one game all year against a Top 50 team.

Agree with the sentiment here that a 5 seed is not attainable given their lack of signature wins and 2 really bad losses. Win the MVC Tourney and I think a 6 seed is entirely possible. Lose and probably looking at the 8 vs. 9 matchup.

UNI if they win the entire tournament and blow everyone out while doing it, I can see them getting a 6 seed. If they win it all, with a close game in the title game, I can also see a 6 seed. If they lose either quarterfinals or semi's then its probably a 7 or 8.

There will be some other teams affected down the stretch, their RPI right now is at 20 and they have some quality wins. Now if only Iowa, ISU, BC, and some of their other non-conf teams didn't suck so bad, they would have a higher RPI.

Their losses will hurt their seeding, but i think if they win it outright, a 6 seed is where they will end up.

Personally looking for a 7-10 match-up myself, I think they can hang with any of the #2 seeds projected if they get past the 1st round! with UNI's depth they can be scary in a tournament setting!

UNI is headed for the fabulous 8/9 game and then an epic beat down in round 2 if they win the 8/9 game.....but at least they are there which is more then we can say and will be able to say for years to come

While I agree, I'll take that bet. You win you get to keep your house, you lose I get your house... : ) Deal?

Sure. I'm 100k upside down. Or am I?

Seriously, I'm not upside down and I will bet my house. A 5 seed is impossible unless there's a large bomb that takes out the eastern seaboard and a bulk of the Big East, ACC, and some SEC teams.

I predict one and done for UNI. I'll be rooting for them though.

I think UNI has one thing working for them in the tournament and that is their depth. Not a lot of teams can go 10 deep on a regular basis. I think UNI's styles of basketball will also work in their favor. They are more dribble drive and kick back out. IF they get the right match-up they could do some damage. I look for them to get knocked out of St Louis in the Semi's or the final, but I bet they still end up a 6 or 7 seed. If they get paired a #2 seed such as a Michigan St or Ohio St, then I see trouble and not a good outlook.

7 is best case. Could even be a 9.

Just depends if they are paired with a team that has been playing better at the end of the season that improved their seed or a team that has been struggling to lower their seed.

Getting out of 8-9 matchup with a second round #1 seed staring at them would be big. Of course. Capt. Obvious.

It looks like you get to keep your house... Damn!
