UNI Game - Is it NCAA elimination?

I believe it is.

For every non-con we lose from here on out, we have to make up for it with a win against a better BoneG team. We lose to UNI, we're going to have to upset Michigan, Illinois, or Ohio State. Sweeping Purdue, Nebraska, and Penn state won't be enough.

i guess it's cool that we have a theoretical shot at the dance, but it just ain't happening.

Well, since I have a brain I inferred that the OP meant that a loss vs. UNI could very well eliminate us from the tournament talk come March. Ya know, down the road. For anybody to deduce from the OP's original post that we're automatically eliminated if we lose on Saturday, would be moronic.

Yes because if we go 12-6 in the B10 we will be left out of the tournament because we lost to UNI LOL. There are more and more ******* idiots on this board each day.

Reminder: we are starting 3 freshman and a sophomore so anything can happen, I'm encouraged by our improvement but trying to keep realistic expectations. If fran can get this team in the dance he deserves coach of the year! So far the Hawks have beaten one decent non top 25 team ISU, beating UNI will help but losing won't kill their chances, there will be plenty of opportunities in the Big Ten, if they win 10 games against Big Ten teams I think they are in!

This definitely won't be a NCAA elimination game for you guys. We are a good team and I think we will play a good game but after seeing you guys dismantle a good Iowa State team, I don't think we will come out on top UNLESS your players come in too overconfident like your football team against CMU, or last year against Campbell

Our fb team wasn't overconfident. They just sucked.

It's difficult to be in the presence of such brilliance.

It's not easy for me to put up with all the idiots on here either. We have people saying Iowa needs to win 14 B10 games to make the tournament, that the UNI game is an NCAA elimination game. LOL. The stupidity on here is really breathtaking.

Thanks for elevating the level of discussion tho.

i'll put you down for Iowa winning 13 in the conference then.

So are you saying that Iowa will go 12-6 in the B10? Anybody with a brain knows that we'll have a really tough time getting to .500 or above in the B10, so our OOC schedule will be very pertinent. Thus, this game vs. UNI will be very important. Do you get that? No? Didn't think so. By the way, did you used to post under the name "TylerSash" by chance? Because that would make a hell of a lot of sense.

So will we have a Is This An NCAA Elimination post for every B10 game too? I can only hope so. And if we struggle in the B10 the fact that we beat a possibly pretty good mid major team on a neutral court isn't going to make the difference between making the tournament or not, do you get that?

"TylerSash" is that you?

I've missed you *********.

Jeebus, it's like talking to a brick wall... or TylerSash...

Heck, it would be nice just to take back the State of Iowa. Win, and we're the mythical state champion!!!! (assuming Drake loses at least twice - which they will since they play Iowa State once but UNI twice)

If Iowa loses to UNI and doesn't make the tourney, there are a number of other "bad" losses as well.

UNI will probably get 20+ wins this year and be in the top 3 in a very tough MVC. This isn't a RPI killer like losing to Campbell. If Iowa is playing well at the end of the year and is in the top 7 in the B1G than I think we get in.

I'd be surprised if UNI finishes in the top 3 in the MVC. They aren't the quality of team they've been the past few seasons. I agree they wouldn't be an RPI killer like Campbell was, but they certainly aren't going to be listed among our "good wins" if we beat them. If Iowa plays like they did against ISU, but can actually make some 3's, this game shouldn't be close.

I'm so back and forth on this. Our non-conference is so bad that it'd be nice to get another win against a decent team but the conference is so tough. I mean, if we lose this, win out in the conference and then get to 9-9, it is hard to see us getting left out. No bad losses and .500 in one of the best conference in the country (if it plays out that way.)

Then again, you see that non-conference schedule and it's so empty. It's also possible to get to 9-9 without having great wins.

You know what. It's nice to think about this without feeling insane like you would have been when Lick was around.

Important game given our weak non conference schedule, yes. Elimination game, no.

It will be interesting to see if the Hawks can control tempo and/or execute out of their half court sets. This is the last test
for our young team before B1G season so it would be great to see them do well. Plus it would be great to play well and win after winning a big game... no let downs.
