UI's clarification of Tailgating Policy = DUI maker

This is just another way for the city to make money. Not too much different than the speed cameras. They are taking advantage of the tailgating culture and just looking for ways to make more revenue for the city.

The city will make more money when the football team is doing well. But, it will ultimately backfire on them when the football team (God forbid) becomes mediocre or poor again.

No one should ever drive sloppy drunk in the first place, but when you get a whole bunch of people together like at an Iowa football game, that is exactly what you are going to get. The police and the city officials know this and they are looking to get fat off of it.

Finally, someone else who gets it.

Signed this guy...

I understand the point you were trying to make. I just don't think that was the right analogy to do it, because the scenarios are not really comparable.

So you do realize that saying something shouldn't be allowed simply because you don't see the point in it is a pretty close minded way of thinking.

That's all I'm saying.

I think it's logical to think that the people most likely to drink after the game are the ones who got hammered before the game, and are therefore likely flirting fairly close to the legal limit even after the game is over. While I agree that they should be more responsible, they obviously are not. So why not remove that particular judgement call (one that they've proven that they aren't good at making) from their responsibility in the post-game. Just say "no post-game drinking", and have them leave without putting themselves over the limit again.

I don't think that's logical, very few of the people i tailgate with get hammered and we drink in the parking lot after the game. Also, Not all those people are driving so what's the harm in them drinking?

I guess i'm just always going to be against any policy that is put in place to basically replace personal responsibility.

A) Your conclusion that the majority of post game drinkers are hammered before the game is not a correct one.

B) Punishing the many due to the actions of a few is about as far from the American spirit as you can possibly get.

If Ricky Stanzi knew you made such a statement he would strap your hide to a pine pole and...

Maybe they aren't the MOST likely, but would you agree that those people are probably not very likely to be on the wagon in the post-game?

C) His assumption that all these hammered people will be driving is stupid, too. It's not like the city/university are hiding the fact that they plan to have OWI checkpoints on the routes away from the stadium.

I'll concede this one to you guys. Should have done it a long time ago (sure you guys would agree as well lol). It's been fun trying to defend an indefensible position (no sarcasm on the "indefensible" part lol).
