I have never really understood the hype around this kid. He doesn't move naturally, he forces shots, etc. He definitely has the physical set, but the game doesn't really come naturally to him IMO. Does anyone else agree with this?

Hype? He was a 3 star player coming in, what were we expecting out of him? I see him as a good role player, someone who defends fairly well and can stretch a defense because he can shoot from the perimeter. He is no superstar, but I never expected that out of him.

There has always been hype since Dom came in. Kakert said he would have been rated much higher if he would have been in the US longer. I think he even said he thought he had 5 star talent or something like that.

He does have talent. Unfortunately for him, it takes more than talent. He looks like he has no interest in playing.

Uhl's real contribution this year, I believe, will be as our primary post defender. I just watched Purdue, and Haas was a load down there. Happ at UW and Bryant at IU are going to be trouble as well.

Remember last year we played Purdue at home and when Woody went out Uhl came in and guarded there bigs. He was also spreading the floor offensively because he was making 3s, which kept those bigs away from the hoop.

I'm very interested to see how he plays Thursday night, and deals with Delgado. Hopefully he can find his shot again offensively.

Not even close to the 5 star talent Kakert said though. I think that's where the main hype originally started

Haas was very impressive.....

Rumor is: Haas is Dolph Lundgren's son from another mother.....

Boilermakers looked good also. Good game. The Wildcats from surbuban Philadelphia, looked very good at this early stage.....

Kakert might have missed on this one.....

Dom can rebound and play good D and did help the Hawks last season on their ride to #1 at Kenpom.....

We will need his experience this year. Not a lot of game experience on the team other than Jok and Uhl.....

not ready to give up on Dom yet - but I would like to see his minutes go down unless he can start to produce more.

Shame on those that bought into it then based on 1 guys opinion, I never saw a 5* talent in Uhl. I see a good college basketball "role" player.

How are you determining whether he has any interest in playing? It's true his facial expressions don't look like a guy who's having fun out there but that's been true of other players over the years as well. And if he wasn't hustling, Fran would yank him and have him ride the pine.

I'm not determining that. I simply said he doesn't look like it, which you just agreed with.

his body language looks bad - almost all the time - but maybe that just him ya know? We're all cut different, I can't imagine Fran letting a guy with a bad attitude start

I believe Uhl has a load of talent. But we need to keep in mind that he is a perimeter player and his first to seasons, he was used as a post player, out of need. when some one is a good (i'm not saying great) outside shooter, and they're throwing up air balls, then that shows his head isn't in the right place. I don't know why that is, but it is all upstairs and not physically. if Uhl can turn it around, mentally, then he and Baer will be a dangerous duo at the 3.

Saying he doesn't look like he wants to play implies he doesn't want to play. I only spoke about his facial expressions. We can parse words but we don't know for sure whether he does or not.
