Tyler Ulis

Man we sure could have used him this year. Finishes, plays good defense and can hit the three. I gotta say at least Fran goes after these types whereas Kirk shies away from them.

I haven't been watching the entire game but it seems every time I flip over, he's on the floor so playing time doesn't seem to be an issue.

Also, I anticipated him to be a smaller player. He doesn't seem undersized at all.

Anouncers are saying he's been the best player on the floor. Pretty impressive when its a game where #1 is playing #4. It sucks to think how good we would be with him.

Can't blame the kid for choosing the premier basketball program in the country... I'm still mad at Mudiay picking SMU and forcing Kentucky's hand to offer Tyler. Sigh, what could have been...

Trouble is, the staff would have rotated him in and out so everyone got equal minutes, thus, no whining about playing time.

sarcasm appreciated, but Ulis was going to be Fran's hand-picked pg. Fran's whole offensive philosophy depends on a pg. That's be part of the issue. Our pg's can't beat their man off the dribble. No problems with minutes at all.

Edit: Listening to E$ecPN, Ulis 14 points off bench; leading scorer. 26 minutes and no turnovers. Damnit!

At minimum, he would have been enough to beat Syracuse and UNI.

Just spoke with a clone friend of mine about games we watched today. I said it makes me sick to my stomach to watch Kentucky games, knowing what coulda been. Of course, he was all like, "Oh you guys never had a chance with him!" Funny how little brother is so tuned in to all things Hawkeye. They know more about the Hawks than their own team.

Anyway, Ulis impressed the **** outa me today.:(

Roller coaster logic.

Do you really think he ever considered iowa? Seriously? Fran could say he offered anybody. Why would he consider Iowa?

Almost all reports (and not from local media) on his recruitment had him going to Iowa until Kentucky swooped in. He skyrocketed up the prospect rankings during his final summer of AAU ball, by which time Fran had already been on him for quite a while.

Lets hope Fran can find another five star and this time sign him. The main thing we are missing is that premier guard who can carry the team and score when we really need a bucket.
