Can't blame Tyler for looking into the NBA. No harm trying. Really hope he returns to the Hawks to add another year of experience. He really advanced aspects of his game this season despite being only one of two offensive threats most of the season. Garza became a factor as the season went on and on. Tyler and Jordan were usually double teamed each and every game. To have done so well scoring was a sign of their talent, no doubt at all.....
Tyler's offensive game certainly improved. His mid-range game vastly improved, and there is no reason not to believe that he would continue to develop that aspect next season. Not every player on the court is a threat from afar. Cook developing his mid-range shooting was definitely a bonus......
He helped bringing the ball downcourt, improving dribbling the ball very well. However, the main aspect he needs to improve is committing turnovers. This can be controlled by simply not passing the ball too quickly, which probably was caused by the emphasis on transition which actually worked once in a while. The entire team had problems with this.Too many times we would throw the ball directly to an opponent. No Hawk was open at all, but we would continue to pass the ball anyway. Just continue to dribble the ball or wait before passing .....
Tyler's D improved, but still needs work, same as almost every man on the team. Only Baer and Kriener understand the concept of Defense. Connor has this ability and should help with this next season. We certainly need to hire a defensive specialist if nobody on the staff can accomplish teaching this.....
Throughout the season there has been improvement, sometimes game to game, most of the time once in a while but the season ended with the Hawks playing the way most of us anticipated preseason. Watching the Michigan-Purdue game right now, and we played them better than any other team in the tournament. They are handling Purdue quite nicely so far.....
Simply having a scorer like JoeW will make us much more difficult to stop, If Tyler returns, and I believe he will, we will have 4 solid scoring threats on the floor. Cook, Bohannon, Garza and Weiscamp. I believe Connor will be able to distribute the ball to the scorers. Ever the optimist, I can see vast improvement next season. Remains to be seen.....
Once again, merely thoughts wandering around my mind.....
