TWO more years???

Instant? It's been 5 years without breaking the top25.

Theres nothing instant about it. It's been long and excruciating.

The longer he stays the bigger the whole the next guy will have to dig out of.

he does not deserve to stay at the expense of the program.

Kf made his own bed when he choose to do the whole Davis thing to set up his son.

The Hawks have been 15-11 overall and 9-7 in the B1G the last two years. Certainly, that's not stellar but neither is it such that he should be fired if we don't win 7 games games this year, in light of of his earlier success with the program. To state he should be fired if we win, say 5 or 6 games this year, is ludicrous, taking everything into account.

We have a 3 time big 10 coach of the year, do you all know how rare that is? If I remember right he is one of only 3 or 4 ever (with Bo, Woody, and JoPa?). He has a contract through 2020. I also believe that he has done a good job with this program.

There is no need to be so hostile towards this coaching staff. He have had coaching stability since 1979 that few programs has enjoyed. Us as fans instead of being so hostile should use that as a selling point to potential recruits.

You say stability...I would suggest stagnant is a better descriptor for the last 4-5 years.

"To state he should be fired if we win, say 5 or 6 games this year, is ludicrous, taking everything into account."

By "taking everything into account" are you including the fact that it would be 5-6 wins with one of the weakest schedules in all of college football by one of the highest paid coaches at a time when his program should be rolling along due to such wonderful "stability". ...and that season ticket sales are dropping to levels not seen in years?

Apparently not.

Recruits also get a bad impression about fan support of the team based on a few vocal fans. They need to know that we support them.

There is absolutely no way Kirk comes back after this season. No way. No how. Fans are, and will continue, turning away in droves ... Nope. In 8 months, when the season is over ... you cut your losses and you go out and get a new coach ... No more excuses for this staff. NONE ... Kirk's time has come and go and it's time for Iowa football to begin its next chapter ... Kirk WILL BE GONE after this season ...

Again, another "rah rah" post from the Iowa football intern (or whatever your insider job is) ... a "few vocal fans." ... Huh!? You think this is just a few vocal fans making noise about the state of Iowa football? Come out from your Mom's basement ... put away the XBox and recognize that you can't simply go through life with an "aw shucks" attitude ...

I have been an Iowa fan for 35+ years ... and right off the top of my head I can name 10 of my Hawk friends here in Des Moines who either gave up their tickets or simply don't make the trip anymore ... As a former I-Club board member ... I know many, many Hawk fans in the Des Moines area who have had enough ... they stopped going to games ... So this is not about a few vocal fans ... How old are you? 17? 18? Every time you post you absolutely sound like someone who was planted by the football office to come on messageboards and spew forth rah rah crap ... STOP ...

Nope, I am a lot older. Many other people I know will continue to go to the games, and support the team. However they don't frequent message boards. I feel that it is important for the players to know that we will continue to support then, and to cheer for them. For example my elderly aunt never misses a game.

Are you for real with all this super positive PR stuff about Iowa football? Or are you just trolling and taking the totally opposite position of each thread you post in. Hey, KF and his staff, and I include his whole staff, did a great job rebuilding and winning championships and having big seasons. 2006 and '07 were really the only poor years until the second half of 2010. but really 2011-14 is pretty mediocre considering the schedule especially the last two years.

I as a fan can probably speak for many that the needed drive to beat inferior opponents, the quality of play and coaching, and W-L record is not good enough the last 4 years and especially the last two. I still dont understand not being aggressive against ISU last year or Ball St and others, amazingly poor game planning.

I hope KF's renewed focus causes a surge this year and maybe next because I am a hawk fan and optimistic. But you cant keep stretching out mediocre years and mediocre recruiting, and losing some talented players because the head guy doesnt seem to want to let players try to make plays.

I am a super fan, thanks for asking. I mean what I say.

Ok, you are a super fan in your estimation. So tell me and all of us, what was going on in your brain during the last 3 quarters of the Maryland game last year? What were your thoughts in qtrs 2 and 3 when the offense had something like 12 or 13 3 and outs, and when they finally started a comeback and were in the game on some big running plays that the remaining play calls were for about 30 straight passes including a pick six, and some of the poor arm tackling on defense that game and not being able to hold the edge.

Where was KF in that game when the offense needed a boost but we saw zero of CJ and little of Wadley and Parker, guys with speed?

The Maryland game, I was wanting Mark Weisman to get more carries late in that game. He was dominating them! I also recommended using a 5-2 defense some of the time with the players last year it would have worked well.

Only if Iowa wins 6 or less games and the stands are half empty... Not an impossibility but I have a feeling they will have a 7-8 win (mediocre for the soft schedule they have) season and because of his contract and Barta still on the job he will be coach for 2 more years. Barta won't fire him for a 7-8 win season he just won't. I don't think a half empty Kinnick week in and wk out will change that...

Iowa has an easy schedule and will win at least seven games. Barta isn't going to fire Ferentz if he wins seven or more games, and Ferentz isn't leaving if he wins seven or more games.

That and a donor with bags full of cash is the only way Iowa will get recruits under this staff.

What do you mean?

We have plenty of recruits....the Kazoo just told me that recruiting can "Turn on a dime"....things are great!!! ***Sarcasm enters room***

-------Iowa was the lone offer for Golston, who had interest from Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Brown. Lattimore had six offers including Bowling Green, Ball State and Miami (Ohio).

These guys have not yet been rated. Since they have committed to Iowa, they will both be 2 stars, or may one will be a 3...maybe. If they had committed to a bigger name school, they would have likely been 3 or better. I have watched this movie too many times to count.

Yeah, KF did a terrific job in the last decade, but the problem is, how recent are any of those Big Ten COY awards? The past 5+ years have been average at best. No rankings, not for a single week, since 2010.

KF shouldn't get a lifetime free pass because of what he did a decade plus ago. If he can get the team back on track and have another big year, then fine, I have no problem with giving him some more time. But 2002-04 doesn't mean much to me in 2015. Neither does 2009, frankly.

Those COY awards do not exist under the current construction of his staff. KF clearly went vacation mode after his lifetime iron-clad contract. That is just not "Iowan" which is why some many struggle with his contract...my 2 cents. This state values a "worker" mentality - a farmer's mentality. The job is never quite done, but KF does not seem to have the urgency anymore. Still cashing checks, though. And giving his entitled son a hell of a leg up in a very competitive industry.

KF was very fortunate to have Norm Parker on his staff. Norm was the backbone to this program and it is no coincidence the program began its decline when Norm got sick. Norm Park is who should be given the credit for Iowa's success. He let KF take all the credit.

If KF does not win at least 7 game this year he will be gone.

I agree
