Jon, did you wake up today in your "defend kf" suit? Since you are the professional here, I'd like to know what you think has happened to kf since the orange bowl win.

I actually don't think anything has happened to kf since then. He's always been the same guy and I have an explanation as to why what happened has happened, but all of us want to know what you think.

I think Iowa lost a ton of talent since 2010 ended. 2010 was a brutal disappointment and since then, there has been a talent drain and also too much attrition on DL. Kirk should have given Kaz the boot and he is responsible for not doing so and the attrition at that one position that came along with that choice

But these dips are going to happen at Iowa. Now, last year was loss of talent plus so much change in coaching staff and the offense had no identity. It will be better this year but no way should they have been below 6-6 last year.

They will be better this year but may not make a bowl game.

I think the talent pipeline is getting better but Iowa had some all timers leave the program in 2009 and 2010. This isn't Ohio Stste

I'm guessing you mean the 09 season and 10 bowl game the same year and this is just off the top of head. The uni block fg's beat Arkansas st by 2 or 3 scored 12 against Minnesota. And drew a one trick pony offense in the bowl game. Not to mention the best coach on the Iowa staff norm Parker and his defense. That year was all norm and a borderline fluke. If he can coach I mean really coach how many good coaches won 4 games last year after being at a program for five plus and are predicated to win 5.5 this year ? How many ? It's so hard to win at Iowa boo @@@@ing hoo. I guess kansas st is just a hot bed of football talent

ok so couple of good years out of 14 means your a good coach ? And I missed it how many "good coaches won four games last year and are predicted to win 5.5 this year? Was Hayden, Bowden, Paterno good coaches at the end of their career ? Lack of talent ? How about a coach who recruiting class was second to last year only team they beat was Minnesota and that counts Maryland and Rutgers. I'm sure that isn't kf fault either how could possibly except him to out recruit the likes if Indiana Purdue Rutgers Northwestern I mean after all this is just little ole Iowa. (Per espn)

It always is interesting to me when people use flukes, or close games, as a barometer to fit their argument but will never seem to use that same measuring tool on the other side. If beating UNI on the field goals was a fluke then losing to Wisconsin on the fake punt game was a fluke. Just like beating MSU on the final play of the game was a fluke and Indiana's wr dropping the ball in the end zone was a fluke, well how many close games have we lost in the past two years by less than 6 points? Those had to be flukes to. So its funny how we use our spin on a situation to fit our given narrative but don't use intellectual honesty in the process. I suppose you can argue that its all about wins and losses in your argument for why he stinks and time has passed him by, and then give him no credit for any of the big wins and seasons cause it was all a fluke and we played a team that ran the wishbone, and all this. Just every time people make those arguments, it sounds really petty, not really intelligent or witty. If its all about wins and losses, then every win is a win no matter by how much or the circumstance, and every loss is a loss, no matter by how much or the circumstance. You can't intelligently say our wins don't count, their flukes, cause they were by a few points and then count all the close losses like we lost by 80.

Yet, it happens routinely by a select few who seem to think they are being witty. I suppose Jerry Sandusky was the real reason JoePa had success too. Or Kirby Smart at Bama. Or Bob Diaco at ND. Or John Chavis at LSU. Or Batman wouldn't be as popular as he is without Robin. I suppose none of those head guys deserve any credit because in fantasy land their assitants are the ONLY reason they've been successful.

Could go on and on but there's no need. It's simply a convuluted way for certain people who can't stand KF's style to try and explain to themselves why he's managed to have success. Otherwise when someone mentions the successful years Kirk has brought to Iowa they have no answer. And well... no answer just isn't an option right? Might as well come up with a safety net excuse.

Kirk and his system are a steel rod in the middle of the program. What changes and what accounts for a bad year vs a good year is talent.

We are so developement driven that it is hard to see talent coming before its on the field. On the flip side after a good year or years we assume more young talent will roll and keep producing which isnt the case at Iowa.

Several breaks went Iowa's-way in the orange bowl year for those who like to use kf won an orange bowl has a he is a good coach speech. That being ssaid every team that makes it that far got some breaks rather they were against uni and Arkansas st is a different debate. Jon is right if I'm going to blast kf saying he has lost it Kf does have to get credit for the good years. That is why there is this post.

So if you would like to discuss this "good" coach winning four games last year or predicted to win 5.5 this year or the fact that last year recruiting class ranked 13th out of 14 teams in the big ten lets do that.

I'm concerned by the fact that you went back and edited this post and it still makes very little sense. Either you are 14 and struggling through 8th grade english or you might have had a stroke.
