Twins fans

After dismantling the White Sox the last two nights it looks like the Twins have the Central wrapped up. My question is who do you want to play in the 1st round. Since the wild card is coming out of the East it will be the Yankees or Rays.

I think the Rays are better than the Yankees but with the Twins history against the Yanks I want to avoid them at all costs. Best case scenario is we get Tampa in round one and then Texas beats NY.

Thoughts?

EDIT -- I forgot to mention that the White Sox blow

They play the Wild Card team if I can remember correctly.

As a Twins fan it will be tough as they probably can't beat either TB or NY. Hoping they can get the best record, they are close so at least they have homefield against either.

They're a game back for best record in baseball and finish up with with 10 of the last 17 at home. They do have the best home record so hopefully they can get homefield. Still, I'd rather not have to play the Yankees right away.

What I dont like about baseball is that if they have the best record they still have to play NY or TB since those two cant play each other in the 1st round. If they end up with the best record I think they should be allowed to play the team with the 4th best record (Texas) and let NY and Tampa beat up on eachother.

Oh well, at least we get to watch some playoff baseball. Hopefully they can break their streak of getting worked in the 1st round

Yankees first round. If the the Twins have to go to NY to start a playoff series, they will likely lose. They have struggled tremendously since 2002 to win any game in NY. There's a mental aspect that has dogged this team because of that. Get the Yankees at home to start the series where you have the best home record in baseball, the storyline instead becomes the new stadium... how the Twins have made it this far without Nathan or Morneau... and how they have the best record in MLB since the All-Star Break. If the series starts in NY, the storyline is all about the Twins futility in NY.

I've struggled with this question too. I keep hoping they beat each other up so that we get home-field over both if/when we have to play them, but in all likelihood we'll have to beat both of them to play in the World Series.

Also, I work with a guy who predicted with 29 games left the White Sox would win the division by 6 games...how sweet the last two days have been!

Hey, don't discount how much having Punto back helps us.

That is a joke right?

Anyone have an faith in the fact Mourneau thinks he can come back? They sure have been fun to watch this summer.

Their schedule is pretty easy coming up so hoping for homefield, that gives them a chance even against the Yanks

Anything involving Nick Punto is a joke

I think Morny is done. I just hope his career isnt over. I cant believe a knee to the head has cost him this much of the season. Good thing they've got Thome

So true on Punto and Thome. Thome's been a lifesaver for us this year with his power and veteran leadership. It will be interesting to see the effect he has on the clubhouse come playoff time because we've never really had a savy talented veteran the last couple of playoff runs.

I think Morneau is done as well...hope he's not done permanently...this is his 2nd major head injury of his career.
