TV Ratings Question

Leading up to this game it really seemed like the media coverage was lacking for the Orange Bowl. I thought I read somewhere that the BCS Bowls so far (Rose, Fiesta) had something like a 57% increase in viewership.

When will we see what the rating were for last night and how they compare to last year, as well as this seasons other BCS games?

I think a lot of that has to do with the games being on Fox, while everything in sports media is driven by ESPN/ABC. If it isn't covered on ESPN, it doesn't exist. Fox doesn't do a very good job promoting the games, and it doesn't help that the games themselves are often disasters.

Look for ESPN to promote the **** out of these games next year, and for the ratings of all of them to increase.

It was by far the least marquee of the BCS bowls, so having less media attention seems about right. TV ratings will probably be higher than they would have because the game was competitive. However, if the crowd was any indicator, the ratings will be the lowest of all of the BCS bowls.

I watched sportscenter from 5-6pm CST last night before the game and there was not one mention that I saw of the Orange Bowl being played in an hour. ESPN was able to mention they were airing the GMAC bowl on the 6th though, and they talked about the national championship game a couple of different times. It was just the FOX/ESPN thing Im sure. Next year will be different like others have said since the games will be on ESPN.
