TV College Football Announcers

Some of you out there might be too young to remember already, but for my money, the best college football announcer of all time is Keith Jackson. The worst? Hands down, Pam (don't call me Paul) Ward.

Well of course he was, he leads. But for me it was Rafael. He was cool, but rude. Michelangelo was a party dude and a close second. Danetelo was into machines and was of little interest to me...

Very random. My favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle growing up was Leonardo.

Leonardo is definitely in the top two, but in my personal experience, the long reach of Donatello's staff made killing enemies in the video game much easier!

P.S.: Raphael is easily the worst ninja turtle, all he does is **** and moan and his weapon was only effective if you were 3 inches from the enemy.

Both examples are demonstrated below:

Jackson was awesome. I enjoy Musberger even though he is off his game now. Just something about his voice brings a certain aura and drama to the event. Love Gus Johnson now. Also on BTN, Martin calls a great game.

I don't think anyone debates against Keith. I would pay alot of money to hear him call one more hawk game. Mussberger brought goosebumps to the introduction to the 2009 Penn St game, but is not that insightful. I like Sean McDunnough. He lacks the pizzaz, but you can count on his understanding of the game and relevant commentary.

I couldn't disagree more vehemently. Perhaps you weren't watching the night Keith sold his journalistic integrity defending no less that tosu and Woody Hayes.

Through a smoke filled room loaded with plenty of beer and cards I clearly saw Woody punch Charlie Bauman. Then I saw it time and time again as they showed it on replay.
What did I hear Keith say, words to the effect that he can't see what the ruckus on the field is all about.

Never liked him since that night. As an aside, if Woody had had a gun he would have shot that kid that night imo.

Now there's a guy who can hold a grudge.

I have always like Mussberger for the reasons stated. It is his voice & ability to pull you in. I also really like Brad Nessler & think he does a terrific job & has a good voice for it to.

Nessler
McDunnough
Mussberger
Gus Johnson

Some of my favorite CFB announcers:

Play-by-play

Brad Nessler (best play-by-play out there, imo)
Sean McDonough
Brent Mussburger (maybe not the most insightful, but brings the 'big game' feel, as others have said)

Color

Herbstreit
Bob Davie (also, I think he really likes the hawks)
Ed Cunningham
Chris Spielman
Gary Danielson

Oh yea. He's another decent one. He & Bob Griese are kind of equivalent.

That was a bad thing that Hayes did. The actual incident that occurred during the game was caught on camera, but Jackson and Parseghian didn't see the punch live. There was a big "fight" between the ABC brass about whether Keith and Ara should discuss it on air. Keith refused. I actually think he was exercising integrity not to discuss the ugly incident, since he didn't see it live. Also, ABC never likes to show that stuff during games. Keith did not like Woody Hayes. He had no reason to protect him. Blame the ABC brass of that time, not Keith.

I am not an OSU guy, but I am a big 10 guy. Except for the games between Iowa and OSU, Spielman is one of the most entertaining color guys. "See what you hit, hit what you see", or something like that. I love it. Spielman also is usually very complementary of the Iowa program when he does their games.

but Pam Ward is soooo sexy with those manly features haha. I seriously thought she was a dude for about a year.

Agree totally. Nessler is really good, and Mussberger is one of the greats, even if he is a little over the top. Never cared as much for Musberger as a hoops announcer though.. He just seems like a football guy.

Herbstreit seems pretty good as an analyst as well.

Favorite turtle is the tasty one we ate barbecued about 2 decades ago by the Wapsie near Otterville.

Favorite random favorite thing is maybe the Bugs Bunny Square Dance routine with the Hillbillys.
