Turkey vs Ham, Pumpkin Pie vs Pecan Pie on Thanksgiving

Turkey, stuffing, ham, sweet potatoe casserole, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, hash brown casserole, German noodles, broccoli & cheese, cranberry sauce, wild rice with mushrooms and dinner roles... And there was only 6 of us!

Honestly, I'm not a big mafia/gang movie type of person. The only movie from the Mafia film genre that I like is Goodfellas. Some day I will rent The Godfather.

Excellent movie, but not really fair to compare GoodFellas and The Godfather. Entirely different "types", though both involve Mafia subject material.

Turkey all the way. I have a relative who last year ate ham, I just laughed. Ham should be for Christmas. Pumpkin Pie for me with whipped cream. Kathy's Pies in Cedar Rapids has the best. Should be a fun 48 hours!

Some of the grocery stores down here don't even have pre-made pumpkin pies with their big store brand pre-Thanksgiving displays. It's all about the pecan pie or the sweet potato pie. Got a lot more pecans down here than up north and the harvest coincides with Thanksgiving prep. The pumpkin production capital of the world is in Morton, IL, outside Peoria, so it makes sense the Midwest is way more into pumpkin pies than the south.

Turkey/Pecan pie for me.

And stuffing. My wife's grandma used to make this oyster stuffing. Sounds strange but holy balls.. Great stuff.

My wife makes a homemade stuffing that is pretty stellar, too. None of that stove top baloney for us!

The Godfather? Is that a Thanksgiving family tradition with your family? TO this day, I still have not seen that movie.

Seems they show it on TV Thanksgiving day every year. Kinda like sci fi channel and twilight zone every new years Eve and New year's day.. Seems like a tradition.
