Tucker arrest on Lick???

No one is blaming Lick for his actions. They are blaming him for bringing in idiots who act like this.

Big difference. Lick was supposed to be the nice guy who brought in nice guys that the people of Iowa could feel good about.

That was Lick's entire vibe when he got here. He was going to "change the culture".

Ghost.........you & I have been known to disagree, before :)
However, if this is true about Tucker, it is simply shocking to me.
I'm at a loss for words, I'm amazed that a kid could be this stupid.
He only has been given the privilege to play basketball to pay for his college at a Big Ten school.

This arrest in itself isn't on Lick. In the end, the program is Lickliter's responsibility, so if there are alot of arrests, then he has to answer for that as well. But in this case, Tucker seems to be an isolated case. It doesn't seem that there is an arrest problem with the program. Unless I'm forgetting another Lickliter recruit who has been in trouble?

I'm all for second chances, and Tucker has just burned his. If Lickliter allows Tucker to remain on the team, then I WILL put that on Lickliter, especially if there is a third incident, or fourth, if you count the grade issues from last year.

Is there any evidence that any of the players that he has brought in were not good kids before they got to Iowa? It isn't like Lick has gone out and brought in kids of questionable character. You know some kids can change a bit when they get out from underneath mom & dad's wings.

I just dont see how this can be on Lick. If I go to work every day and spend 40+ hours with my boss, who is the one that interviewed me and hired me, and then I go home and get drunk and stupid and get arrested, I don't see how that is on him for me being an idiot. Now if my boss lets me keep coming into work and causing problems in the office, then it is his problem.

Somebody needs to write one of those sappy country songs about this team. You know, "The dog had a heart attack and died on Christmas Eve, and when he fell over, he knocked Grandma's lamp over. The sparks from the lamp set the curtains on fire and spread through the house. The flames from the house caught the pickup outside on fire, which exploded when the fire hit the gas tank. The flying remains of my truck set the barn on fire and burned all our stock and hay. When the wind blew the ashes from the barn into the field, it too burned. Luckily the flames somehow spared the outhouse."
The good news about this team never ends.

a sappy country song? get real.

I feel like TL is either going to nip it in the bud (after giving the bud a couple opportunities to prosper) and just let tucker take himself out of here, or issue some very strict rules and curfews that will affect the entire team (note Iowa football's 07 postseason), because as far as a team of 11 or so guys is concerned, there should be more than enough accountability between the older players and the coaching staff.

Why didn't he wait until there was something to celebrate??? beating Drake at home by a couple points isn't worthy of a celebration. Oh wait.. this year it is.

PP was known to have issues in HS. Just get to know people in Westmont ( where I have some customers ), and you will hear things. PP had many people trying to help him for a long time, that just seemed to enable him to get more bold.

The arrest isn't on Lick. The probable end of Tucker's career isn't on Lick.

What IS going to be on Lick is the absence of anyone to take up the slack caused by the loss of yet another player. For that, Coach will ultimately have to take the heat.

Tucker had a history of being a problem in highschool and he has just taken it to a new level at Iowa. Lick knew his history but still brought him on-board. Lick deserves to be held accountable for recruiting/signing a problem player that has hurt the team 2 years in succession. There is no way in "H" that he should be on scholly next semester. If Lick and staff were better recruiters, they wouldn't have taken a chance on this guy, imo.

this may seem deranged, but if if I am going to trust someone to manage my money, they need to have a system that works, and then follow it. If they have a system and then they second guess it, you will lose money. How does this pertain to Coach Lickliter? He has a system, and if a player does not fit that system, they don't get PT and they might leave. I vote for having a coach that has a system and doesn't change when its not obviously working. If that costs us some players that don't fit the system, so be it. Lick was not national COTY for nothing. That being said, Alford did have SMU in the Sweet 16 right before coming to IC. Since the players are mostly younger than my own offspring, I just want to see them do well, have fun, and achieve their full potential. Just to round out my own take on this, if I had to choose a player to sacrifice, it would have been Tucker. I think the rest of our main guys need to see if a bunch of white boys from the Midwest can compete in the BT. I guess I should cork the Malbec from Argentina in a show of solidarity with AT.

This is the correct response. Although the arrest was not his fault, the loss of another player is ultimately going to fall on Lick.

Had Iowa not gone through the numerous transfers(and horrible basketball) over the last three years, the finger poining would have been completely directed at Tucker. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Coaches can only be responsible for so much and AT's drinking isn't Lick's deal. If AT can use the BB situation at Iowa as a reason to be a drunk then he is going to have a really tough life until he grows up a little.

How in the world would this "be on Lick"??? This isn't even about basketball. This young man needs to get into rehab immediately. If he comes back to play, great. If not, so be it. The important thing is that Anthony address HIS alcohol problem. I may not be Lick's biggest fan, but to suggest this is his problem is simply beyond reason.

Your focus is misplaced. The important thing is money and victory, many successful players have been drunks or drug users and been able to compete at a high level, HA!
