last year it took til the 9th game to get 5 wins
after 8 game they were 4-4
this year they are 2 games over .500 at 5-3
the 5th win came against UNI
what ever it takes to have a positive outlook

Herby, at least give us a fictitious version of you age and education. We are really curious.

nothing fictitous about those wins and losses from last season to this season
all i am trying to do is keep a positive spin on this season
last year we were 4-4 after 8 games
this year we are 5-3 after 8 games
whats wrong with being positive

There is nothing wrong with being positive. I just want to know how old you are. I thought it may help explain some of your posts.

Herby, I am going to give you a four woof salute for your undying loyalty to the Hawks and for keeping things positive.....

Brown was a necessary opponent to attempt to regain some confidence for the coming trips to Cedar Falls and Ames. We need all we can muster.....

:D

i lived thru the worst stretch of Iowa Football that i never want to see again
watched a BB coach tear down the program
and i am not talking about Alford
Alford did not hurt this program like some accuse him of
i blame the fans for turning their backs because of Pierce
Alford gave him a 2nd chance after the charges were reduced to assault charges
if the kid would have kept his nose clean and they had a better end of season ending it would have been forgotten
going a entire season undefeated at home and finishing 2nd then following up with a 4th place finish in a season that expert thought the best they would do is 8th was a good season
for Barta to even think about giving any coach an ultimatum after a 2nd place finish in the BT is a fool
and for fans to be upset about that kind of success were idiots

My frustration with the Alford era has everything to do with all the issues with players when he was there, Pierce was only a small portion of the greater problem that existed when Alford was there. Just keep this in mind, and ultimately this is my biggest frustration, I believe that of all the freshman Alford signed, seven graduated. Most didn't because they transferred or never made it to campus. The ball was rolling for a monumental collapse of a program, the wrong hire was made and the collapse happened. Iowa won with Alford, but they also lost a lot of respectablity when he was there.

He certainly treated Sean Sonderliter like trash, and was probably the main reason Jason Bonannan went to Wisconsin. He should have been a lock for the Haweyes....

:)

and how many of Alfords recruits did Lick run off
as for players leaving under Alford, Evans had a major impact on that,
but ultimately Alford was at fault for not controlling Evans
Alfords biggest problem was he did to much on the job training at Iowa
the guy had everything handed to him
he never had to be a assistant which in turn he never got to actually learn how to handle players under another coach
people in ISU will learn this with Hoiberg
its one thing to get talent but it is whole nother ball game learning to MANAGE those players
there is more to it than just X's and O'S
Managing the players is a very big part of coaching
also ther schools have players transfer out we got spoiled by the lack of transferrs but even he had players transfer out but people don't or won't admit it
i never cared about ALford one way or the other, besides its all about supporting the kids and program, and nothing more
besides Lute was a @ss himself
he moaned and groaned plus a few not so pleasant niceties till he got the new arena
then ran out crying about the fishbowl he was in

This re-write of your original post is much clearer. Thanks for being positively positive.

nothing wrong with a half-full glass attitude, I go back to the 69-70 Hawkeyes, I really like Fran and his style but it may be year 3 or even 4 before we are consistently good again, nothing wrong with looking for positives though
