How much Ketamine does Musk take? He has stated he takes it recreationally. If he takes quite a bit, it may affect his reasoning and impulse control.

So do other countries tarrif us before Trump?

Tariffs are mutually destructive, nobody wins. However, really rich and powerful countries (us) can take a little pain...smaller, weaker countries cannot. Thus, the threat of tariffs and a trade war is a way to bully weaker countries, and hence secure some short-terms wins. This concept of taking advantage of power-disparity seems to be Trump's MO across his entire career (that, and self-promotion).

The generous argument re: Trump and his tariffs is that the USA has NOT thrown its weight around as much as it could, and other countries have taken advantage of this. Western Europe not investing in defense is a great example, as are protectionist tariffs that other countries levy on us. I think Trump will earn some victories by being the bully.

The risk (and it is a pretty big one) is that other countries get sick of being pushed around, and they decide to cozy up to China instead. That could have hugely damaging consequences re: our economy and China's rise in power. There is a reason why people get into business deals with Trump once, and only once. After you get screwed one time, you are going to find new people to do business with.

It seems like Trump is the classic example of the guy who only has a hammer (bullying), so he sees all problems as a nail (how can I take advantage of a power discrepancy?). He would be well served by acquiring a screw-driver or two (i.e., some concept of diplomacy).

This is a fair post too. I mostly agree with it. The gray area in between "it's good that he's doing something" and "he's going too hard" is where the debate should lie. I'm even leaning towards "he's going too hard". I'm just not as far that way as others here.

I saw an interesting video that talked about how China hasn't been involved in a war in a long time, while we have been involved in many. It was basically saying the only reason we fear China is because we are told to. They are trying to win in other ways besides war. I thought it was an interesting point.

So what I was saying earlier about social security paying dead people being a good thing. If Musk really does find corruption in social security and gets rid of it, and then there is enough money to keep it going without making changes, that is a very good thing. It's so much better than if they find out social security is run perfect and it's still going to go bankrupt. At least this way there would be a fix. So that being said, how many of you still hope nothing gets found just so Musk doesn't get a win?

10 democrats also voted for censure. If I had to guess, Green knew he would be censured, but he did not care because...

1) He wanted to draw attention and forcefully make his case.

2) He wants to come down on the right side of history. I could be wrong, but I don't think history will judge Trump's 2nd term kindly, and Green likely doesn't want to go down as someone who just went along passively as Rome burned.

Trump is good at putting Dems in positions where they look like assholes to the majority of people.

2) He wants to come down on the right side of history. I could be wrong, but I don't think history will judge Trump's 2nd term kindly, and Green likely doesn't want to go down as someone who just went along passively as Rome burned.

Green was pretty clear in an interview (just as he left the chamber) that he was very willing to take any punishment, and that he was trying to get people's attention about Medicaid. He was very intentional and used the outburst as a vehicle to get the spotlight to talk about his fears that Medicaid will be slashed.
