Trump supporters, how do you square this?

Pointing to the market every time it goes down and ignoring it every time it goes up is a weak argument that both sides are guilty of. Individually tho, let's not be guilty.
I'm wondering if it might be a bit of a leading indicator, that's all. No need to get reactive.

Please stop insisting that everyone is on "a side" FFS.

It is merely an indication that the markets are nervous about Tariffs. Prices and inflation are up. The markets are nervous. Our allies are furious. Russia is thrilled. I hope it works out, but things don't look so rosy.

I didn't say everyone is on a side. I said both sides do it. That comment insinuates there are in fact two sides. But I didn't think that was a controversial statement.

I have seen multiple stories over the last couple weeks of companies moving to the US and doing business here. There's an argument to be made that tarrifs are the main reason for it. One think that's important to note is tarrifs aren't probably going to bring prices down. In fact they very well might bring them up. They are designed to bring in more money to the US and hopefully at minimum balance the budget.

What this country has been doing for the last 50+ years clearly isn't working. If the path you are on leads to the end of the country, you have to choose a different path. Are you someone who thinks our national debt won't eventually destroy our country? If not, you should be at least a little hopefully that we are going down a different path. That's not even to say this path would work. There's just a mountain of evidence to show our last path sucked.

For anyone who's interested, my main man Elon Musk was on Rogan. He talks about the Nazi salute, Doge, the likelihood that he will be killed if he goes all in on uncovering corruption, and Mars. Lots of good topics.

It's very obvious at this point that people's opinion on free speech depends solely on what they're saying. I'm a very firm believer in free speech all the time.
You didn't answer the question. Here it is again so you can "not" answer it again...

"free speech is or isn't something that MAGA supports???"

And before your bogus claim that you did answer it, the question was whether MAGA supports free speech. Not whether the "people's opinion" depends on what they're saying. And not whether you support free speech all the time.

Does MAGA support free speech or does it not? Give an actual affirmative or negative instead of deflective rhetoric. You either believe the MAGA/Trump crowd supports free speech or you don't.

Read the very first line of my post you quoted very slowly three times. I really think you can do this if you try really hard!

From @Westernhawk not me, moved from the wrong thread earlier...

Here you go, PC. Consumer Confidence may be a leading indicator:

Biggest one month drop since 2021:

Well clearly that's the case. Half of the population hates everything Trump does. It doesn't take a rocket scientist (my main man) to figure out that consumer confidence is always going to be an issue with the political landscape the way it is lately. And the other half knows about the half that is going to be shitting thier pants. Hell I'm not nervous about the policy but my confidence in the economy is down right now based on knowing what half of the country is thinking right now.

That wasn't answering the question (and I explained why).

Do you think MAGA/Trump support free speech?

Can you not answer that directly? I'm thinking you can't because you're afraid of admitting something.

Thats why he needs help from the heads of all departments to make it work. Then it's your boss telling you what to do for one. For two you have to have communication to make it work. Also every single American should support this other than the politicians who are stealing money.
If done the right way, but he doesn't/didn't want to wait for department heads to get on board so he is pushing his agenda into agencies he has no control over and is calling the shots. That's the issue I have. He wants to rush his way through everything while making a big production of it. Then he makes a mockery of it by becoming a chainsaw wielding lunatic at the Conservative Political Action Conference like it's nothing more then a big game to while not giving two shits about the lives that could be affected by his actions, but it's ok because he's said something to the extent of "when we make a mistake and we will we'll fix it".

Here's my suggestion for him. Slow down, be precise, and maybe those mistakes won't be made. As if moving a thousand miles an hour isn't enough, now there's reports that DOGE is using AI to help it reshape the government which could lead to security breaches, biased firings, and the fact that he has very little knowledge of the agencies to begin with. Why worry though, what could possibly go wrong?

And most of us have been claiming this from the day he announced it. Yet, he had absolutely no problem making promises on the campaign trail that prices would go down, but I'm sure that had nothing with talking out his butt to get votes.

I'm also waiting to hear him announce at his speech tonight that he's taking credit for the market drop recent decline. I mean, he was taking credit for its climb weeks leading up to the election, because American's were confident he'd be returning to office so so I'm sure held held himself accountable for it taking a hit. I mean holding himself accountable and not blaming others is something he does well right?

Prescription drug prices, threats to Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, farmers, tariffs, threats to allies, aligning with murderous dictators, hiring unqualified drunken Fox News hosts to Defense Secretary, on and on everyday is a new debacle with the orange stain of insurrection. Prices are not going down they're going up. Stock market is not going up, it's going down. Most that don't ascribe to Truth Social/Fox News are concerned, it's pretty normal response.

I predict two things for sure. Blame on Biden and the radical democrats for all that is bad as only HE can fix it, plus lies. Many lies.

Consumer confidence, and consumer behavior, matters. The etiology of the erosion of the confidence may or not matter. I know you like to funnel everything into an "us" vs "them" culture war, but economies don't care whether we like Trump or Elon. Economies behave in interesting ways in response to Tariffs, and that's what I wanted to talk about. Happy to continue to converse about macroeconomic principles and consumer behavior, but I'm not at all interested in your "red hat" game. Do that with someone else. I'm hoping for a little better dialogue than one could get on X or a Facebook comments section.

Here's another linky with some info re: "rattled markets" related to the new trade war with our allies. Hopefully it's not a larger trend and I hope it doesn't signal an overall contraction of our economy, which some are predicting.

It gives me no pleasure at all. I want my retirement savings to grow, dammit.

Question: If Elon Musk is involved in getting some tech contracts canceled, and then the government replaces those contracts with contracts with Elon's companies, is that corruption?

Question 2: If Elon sacks employees in agencies that were investigating his companies in the name of consumer protection, is that corruption?

Maybe that POS Cybertruck (Douchepanzer) won't be the most recalled auto anymore.

Talk amongst yourselves.
