Trivia Question

A while back there was an argument about Iowa high school football and lot's of dissing about SE Iowa. Here's my question. What small school SE Iowa basketball player was a starter in an NCAA Elite 8 game? (Hint - Lute Olson wasn't a proven winner yet).

Mark. Harmon.

Ryan Bowen never made it to the Elite 8.
Dick Klein played for Northwestern, so we know it wasn't him.
Matt Fish played for UNC-Wilmington, so we know it wasn't him.

I don't know of any other basketball players from SE Iowa.

I looked up his bio. He was a D2 head coach for many years and now NAIA. He played CC ball north of I 80 in Iowa. He played in the sweet 16 the prior year, but I don't know if he was a starter. This guy was drafted, but played in Europe.

My main point is that this guy was unheralded as a high school player and developed well enough to get drafted. Woody is not ready. He still could be very good. And he was from Iowa.

I remember being shocked as a kid to hear his name announced on TV as a starter in the dance and from Smallville, Iowa. The Hawks weren't very good back then and they let this guy escape and he grew up much less than an hour from IC?

Jess Settles, Klay Edwards. Of course, it wasn't them, but they're from SE Iowa.

Ok, looked it up. Was 1 year at Ellsworth. 3 years at a D1 school, playing in all games as Soph and Jr and starter senior year where he averaged 12.5 points per game and 9.35 rebounds. His senior year was ended by a very famous coach in a Regional Championship.

So your point is that people need to give Woody a chance/time to develop?

ILHawk if you want someone to give you an answer to your stupid trivia question go to the Scout board and look up Blacktarn (ie Herby or RedHawk) and I am sure he would be all over it.

I thought he got banned there too, maybe not but I am pretty sure he did. I thought someone said he was on 24/7 sports now.

seriously???? Rob should have done this a long time ago instead of letting him chase everyone off. So now we will get fresh blood here from 24/7. Pretty soon Jon will have a monopoly here when it comes to Hawkeye forums. The best way to ruin any forum is to send Herby there.

I miss herby.

I would have loved to hear his analysis of Gabe leading the Hawks to their near miraculous comeback on Tuesday night.
