Had a thought this morning. I hope our OL can bring it each and every game. Yes this will be a big advantage in the wins, but I think if they can show what they can do, it has to help in recruiting. If I am an OL I want to be taught by the best, if I am a FB or RB, I want to run behind the best and if I am a QB I want to be protected by the best.
Now I am not saying they are the best in the B10 yet, much less the nation, I am just pointing out that IF they can man handle MSU, we as a program are for sure on the rise again.
Big part of our team this year is besides the MN game, it seems as thou the whole team cant get fired up and stay fired up FOR THE WHOLE GAME.

I don't see them manhandling the D line at MSU. I do, however, think if we can sustain drives (convert 3rd downs) and keep the ball for large chunks of time in the first three quarters, we can do some damage in the fourth. I felt MSU kind of ran out of gas at in the fourth against OSU.

The OL will be fine. There will be a few mistakes along the way, but overall they will be solid and improving each week. Our WRs are also blocking downfield very well.

I don't think we'll see too many one back sets against MSU. Brad Rogers is one of the most overlooked players on this offense and he's not afraid to put a hat on somebody. He's a dominant blocker and one good block by him can make all the difference. Not to take anything away from the 0-line, but they're not going to manhandle the MSU D-line like they did Minnesota's.

Thats sort of what I was saying in the if i was Davis thread.
I agree MSU is going to be a lot tougher then MN, but I have faith. If our D can hold out, it could be a very low score going into the half. By no means was I taking anything away from anyone else on the O blocking, as said they have all done a great job. THAT is what is exciting. If they can stay clicking and all work together, play for the entire game, I think we could make some noise and maybe even shock some people this year. I think if the kids work hard between now and MSU and the coaches work hard on a game plan, we can beat them. The kids have tasted sucess, so I expect they are fired up about putting in the work.
We need to win the turn overs, and have some excellent ST. Those two right there are maybe more important in this game then any other. (atleast so far).

MSU is a big test for Iowa's OL. Head up, I think Iowa's OL can hold their own against MSU's DL. The problem is that won't happen. Iowa's passing game is quite frankly pathetic. There is not reason for MSU not to stack the box with 8 or 9 guys.

Now if the OL can pass the test of MSUs 8 & 9 men in the box defense that will most likely be blitzing the hell out of Christensen, oops I mean Vandenberg, than that will a huge statement.

I for one would love to see our line play being the key to the game. If our lines can hold up on both sides of the ball and for some reason the deciding factor was the kicking game then I'd really like our chances.

MSU is going to dare us to take shots downfield.
I hope like hell we can....
That way Weisman can breathe easier in between slamming into 11-man fronts.
