Were talking about who has had a better season thus far, Iowa or ISU.

let me precede this by saying i really couldn't care less who people think has had a better season as they have both been terrible and ISu has the trump card, a win at Iowa.

However,

The guy that was arguing for ISU listed ISU's key wins as @ virginia and @ Iowa RPIs 150 and 148 respectively. He then goes on to say that Michigan State (RPI 47) isn't a key win for Iowa and that they're no good.

He also said the reason ISU has been struggling is their strength of schedule. However Iowa's SOS is 48 vs ISU's 78. The only reason i know that is because he said it right before he made that comment.

I would say Alabama is a pretty good win for Iowa.

ISU has had a successful year because they brought back 3 scholarship players, added 4 freshmen (a JC who did not pan out) and a transfer.
With that lineup probably should have 10 wins maybe.
They have been competitive in most games, and failed to finish a few.

Iowa like ISU has been up and down.. Blown out by Northwestern, blows out Michigan State at home, plays OSU and Wisky tough at home, loses by double digits to a Minny team who had been struggling
Only difference is Iowa did finish their close game with IU on the road.

Actually its pretty sad that we have to talk about who is having a better season giving the 2 teams records. Better that this season be put in the rear view mirror by both schools and look forward to tournament appearances in the future.

I had ISU winning 11 games in the out of conference and three or four in league play before the year.

I had Iowa winning between 10-12 games before the year.

So at least this year in hoops, I am right on target ;)

Iowa has shown the most improvement this year. But lets see how things play out.

I don't think you can argue either way. You can't compare two bad teams. Let's hope for the state of Iowa that they both get better.

I was just thinking what Deace's reaction to me would have been had I posed the question: 'Which team has had the better season, Iowa or ISU'

It would have been a good segment that wouldn't have dealt with any analysis of the question. His reaction would have been the segment ;)

as it should have been. :)

I like Travis but sometimes he has no idea what the hell he is talking about. He also said ISU is exceeding his expectations as he thought they would win 10 games, which isn't true at all. If he goes back to his podcast he will find that him and his little sidekick Tim both had ISU with a chance of winning 7 to 9 conference games and pushing 20 wins overall.

It isn't a huge deal, but dude don't lie to make it look like you know what you were talking about in late December or early January, just man up and admit ISU didn't turn out like you thought they would.

I've warmed up to their morning show quite a bit but my problem is Travis constantly chooses his side, then finds facts to support it instead of finding facts, and then making a decision. This morning was a classic example of this.

I think it was Travis arguing for ISU. His argument was pretty flawed as everything he used to argue FOR ISU, he used to argue against Iowa. I think the question that needs to be answered is what would Iowa's record have been if they would have played ISU's non conference. 10 or 11 wins would be about the same for Iowa, and they would have the same record as ISU has now. So then you have to see who had more coming into the season, again, pretty even. I couldn't really choose a side right now, because I think they are even.

Wow, You mean Travis and Tim actually talked about sports?
Usually they talk about everything else..Etc What they would name a bar if they owned one, or the half time show at the superbowl, or the hotel room Travis was in the night before.. Seriously they talk about sports on their show about 20% of the time.
I used to be a religious listener..but lately I have no desire to hear about their personal lives.
Travis and Tim..Do some homework and focus on sports. (mostly local sports.. Iowa-ISU-Drake-UNI and some of the relevant teams in the region).

I know, he says one thing then another, he even did today when he said if Iowa's best win was UNI that is bad as a Big Ten team should be able to beat a Missouri Valley team, then goes on to say ISU's win over Creighton was good, well shouldn't a Big 12 team be able to beat a middle of the pack MVC team as well?

Then Tim is just lost and makes no sense half the time. It was classic the other day when he was ******** about all the channels showing the NCAA Tournament this year and the half hour staggered start times and getting stuck watching a blowout game. He doesn't realize that when the noon game tips, the 11 am game will be starting the 2nd half and the 11:30 game will also be going on, so you have 3 freaking games going at the same time to choose from with another one to come at 12:30 so if the 11 am game is turning into a blowout at 12:30 you still have 3 other games you can watch and don't have to watch the last 10 minutes or so of the 11 am game if it is a blowout. If he is too lazy to change the channel then he should be worried aobut other issues then college basketball start times.

That was hilarious, then he wanted to "invent" a box that would allow you to only flip through certain channels. About 10 people called in and were like "it's called favorite channel dumb**"

That was good when people called in about that, but what was even funnier is I still don't think Travis understood the favorite channel thing. At any rate these two made it sound like pushing 3 or 4 numbers on a remote was the most strenuous thing a person can do and how much of an inconvienience it was to keep changing channels.

I almost called in this morning and said, "Who cares?" And this is coming from a guy whose fandom mostly centers around instate schools and basketball. I agree that ISU appears to be getting worse while Iowa gets better, but really it could be a million things. I do agree with those that say ISU is getting tired... Jake Anderson admitted as much in recent weeks. Christopherson hasn't been the same since early January and he'll have surgery after the season. JVB had ankle tendonitis even before his high ankle sprain last week. For the next few weeks we'll likely be playing a rotation of three undersized true freshman in the frontcourt... not a recipe for success. What does that mean about Hoiberg and this season? Probably we'll suck.

I will say it looks like Iowa fans are getting into the team again. I watched only a few minutes of the game on Sunday because it was not fun to watch, but the crowd did seem into it.

I'm guessing that there are more posts in this thread than listeners to that god-awful show.

The correct answer to the question is "Who cares?" It says alot about their show if they discussed it for more than 7 seconds. I haven't listened to that show for at least a month and I'll listen to any sports talk radio.

I can stand Travis but Tim is awful. He knows nothing about sports and proves that every show. I would think kxno would do some evaluating of some kind.

i thnk you can take a look at which team is improving not winning but improving more. I don't watch ISU play but they have lost 6-8 games in a row but have been in most of their games. Iowa has won a few lately, all be it 2 of them were Indiana and we caught MSU on a bad night but that is college BB for ya. ISU has some nice players waiting in the wings but will they have team chemistry? Iowa will have a solid core back next year and with a nice addition or two could make a huge leap. As a Hawk fan I'm happy where things are heading on the court and in recruiting. If Iowa can win a few more games and then 1 in the tourny I would be happy.
