Transfers?

At this point he could say the sky is blue and half of the people would disagree and the other half would look up...

I honestly think it's much worse than 50/50 spilit Shane.. I think Lick has lost his support base. I think 70/30 right now and it honestly could be worse...

His answers are so detached, uncommitted actually. How can he NOT remember what he thought when guys transferred? How is it he feels really good about this team, he doesnt sound attached, involved, invested in this team, the guys. If he is this way, then how can the guys believe in him, his system, his leadership? Then to be unaware how the guys are looking at things, well, does he ever talk with them, does he have relationships with his players(I bet not, and I think THAT is the reason Kelly left, for if there was a family enviroment, he would still be here....and....I actually think SA offered that for his players), for if he did he would know whats going on.

I think he is protecting himself by saying anything could happen transfer wise...if he said no one will leave and they do, he looks out of touch,so he just remains vague. Maybe the rumors about Brommer to Long Beach will come true, and then he can say..hey, did not surprise me!

I think he hates to lose as much as anyone, so I hope for his own sake he is the one who needs a change..and decides to move on. Give him 1.4 million to walk away..which will be a cool 5 million for 3 years at Iowa...and go get an energetic recruiter coach.

Is this a big surprise to anyone? No Hawk fan or reporter would be surprised if a player/players transferred. Given the recent history, why would Lickliter be surprised?

Couldn't we just tell Lick to Fire is staff knowing that he wouldn't and hope that he steps down?

I heard Jon and Deace talk about that the other day, seemed like a good idea but couldn't see Barta doing that.

This isn't the the most reassuring article I have ever read. Maybe I should just take this at face value and not read anything into it, but it still makes me wonder if we aren't going to have more departures after this season.

I think there will be at least one significant departure from what I am hearing. I cant say anything more.

A number of comments in the DSM register article kinda stuck with me:
Offense puts greatest amount of stress on a defense, IF RUN WELL. As if to say these guys can't seem to get it. These are his guys!!! 3 years!!
Butler seems to be good with it. You aren't at Butler. As if Butler is the model for all that college basketball is and should be. Anyone else tired of hearing about Butler???
Players love it.....WTF??? Is that why the hawkeye players look like they are having so much fun??? Thats why so many have transffered away from it? Big time recruits are calling Lick to come play this system.
Transistion offense??? When? Ever?
Don't want to dumb it down. You pompous *****. We are soooo blessed to have this basketball genius as our coach...we just dont understand. As if e is saying, Sit down and shut up!!!
Why we "chose" them to come play for ME!!! See above.
Sorry but he seems very arrogant, stubborn. We are not supposed to question the great OZ.
Maybe I am reading too much into this article but tese were my first reactions.

I'm in trouble for starting a different 'transfer' thread... so I'll chime in here. ;)

This is exactly how it feels to me too....

What strikes me is how lick requires his recruits to demonstrate the proper level of ''humility'' ,yet he seems to think that this offense is the stuff of genius.

As for the 1.4 million...booster donations are a big factor in financing these programs as well as revenues from tickets sales and concessions....all are hugely affected by the malaise over this program right now.

Iowa averaged 10,000 empty seats at 18 home games this year...that is 180,000 empty seats...even a 5 dollar cone or pop for those missing 180k equals 900,000 dollars. Tickets sold is around 8800...add even 3000 to that at 25 dollars a pop, and you get 75k x 18 = 1.35 million....we are talking at least 2 million/year we could add with the right hire....1.4 million buyout? Do it.
