For WR's If you go back and watch the games there are two issues 1) Separation and lack there of in most cases. Whether that is coaching, a product of the RPO game where they were not expecting the ball or just talent which I don't think was the issue. 2) The guys just need to catch the ball. Gronowski didn't aways throw they best ball but there were LOTS of balls that were flat out uncontested drops. Many of those drops occurred on third down and many of them would have extended the drive. In Iowa's offense where they are not throwing 40 times a game and control the ball those catches are crucial to extending drives and giving the receivers more opportunities. The receivers didn't help themselves out in getting more opportunities.
