Tourney quality teams

May get some consideration, but if Minney is on the bubble on selection Sunday, they will be OUT.
I am sorry, if you have a losing record in the conf, the odds are squarely against you getting in.

The conference record does not have much weight with the committee when the B1G is considered one of the toughest conferences, last season 2 teams from the conference got in with losing records. The RPI rank is solid (#41) and they have a few quality wins, as of right now Minnesota is solidly in. Granted that can change before the season is over.

Wanna reconsider? Lifeless performance at WI tonight. MN on life support. They are a loss at NW this Sat away from dropping to the wrong side of the bub.

He said things could change before the end of the season. I don't see Minnesota losing on Saturday, though. They came up short tonight, but of course Wisconsin shot 16 more free throws at home. The only other stat that Wisconsin held a significant edge in was turnovers. Hollins looked like his old self tonight, which bodes well for Minnesota the rest of the way.

And might not bode well for Iowa when we have to travel there....2/25/14...

No not really, losing at Wisconsin by 8 points does not move them much closer to the bubble. I think they moved up on the RPI, ESPN has them ranked 38th and Big Ten teams ranked that high in the RPI do not get left out.

You're not going to like this but I think if they win 3 more games in conference and at least 1 in the BTT they are in. That would put them at 19-13 overall and 8-10 in the conference, remember last season there were 2 teams that qualified out of the Big Ten at 8-10. If Minnesota gets on the bubble I think the Pitino name gets Minnesota into the tournament. But this Saturday's game is huge for them, if they stumble at Northwestern then you will see Minnesota on the bubble. If they beat NW the next game is very winnable, home against Illinois, and at 17 wins damn near gives them a lock.

I thought Minny looked ok last nite, but Wisky looks back on the beam. Brust had 20 pts on only 7 fg attempts...now that is efficiency. I think Minny will find a way vs NW or they deserve to be in jeopardy..and then vs Illini ...Iowa will be a game that could lock it up for them...scary.

MN already lost to NW, which to me is incomprehensible considering the Hawks destroyed them both times. I could very well see MN lose at NW this weekend.

I guess I am not sure what you are seeing out of the Goofballs that they are a stone cold lock. They have two good wins, at home, the best being WI. No wins on the road at all. Didn't beat anyone in the noncon really. Played Syracuse and got beat, doesn't make the Goofs bulletproof just means they got beat by a better team. Sorry folks Goofs are bub material unless they pull an @UM type road win, and they have proven they cannot do any damage on the road.

I think yall are pining for them just to get that 6th team in the conf in. MN honestly had a better team last year and they squeaked in. Iowa was better than MN last year and did not get in. That still po's me.

Nobody's calling them a stone cold lock. They lose Saturday, and they're in real trouble. But if the field was being selected today, they'd be in.

Yes, Minnesota has already lost to Northwestern but it was without Andre Hollins. The committee does look at stuff like that and Minnesota lost 3 games in a row without their best player.

I am not really pining for Minnesota to make the tournament, although I do like to watch the Big Ten schools play in the tournament. But if you look at their resume it is still strong compared to the schools that are on the bubble. If you look at Lunardi's bracketology check out the schools that he lists as the last 4 in, Florida State for example (a team Minnesota has beat) owns 2 wins over top 50 teams in UMass and VCU. If you want to look at one of the first 4 out Missouri owns 1 win over a top 50 (coincidently it was UCLA) and lost on their home court to Illinois.

With the tournament field expanded to 68 the bubble schools do not have many big wins and Minnesota has 3 wins over top 50 teams. The bubble is not as good as it used to be.

The bubble teams are already hurting themselves in recent weeks. It is going to be a weak bubble this year, which could allow Minny, IU and Neb to have a pulse right to selection sunday depending on how conference tourneys play out.

Northwestern isn't getting in. Too bad for Crawford; I like watching him play and was kind of hoping he'd get a shot in the Dance. Collins definitely has good things in motion over there, though. They'll reach their first dance within three years, IMO.

May be sooner. They have five open schollies next year with LOI's from a 4-star and three 3-star recruits. Also have a verbal commit from a 3-star.

I never understood that chant. We're not good enough at anything to even deserve that chant.
