Top Play

I was afraid that dunk would make Top Plays.

It not only made Top Plays it was #1.

At least they said Iowa won the game.

I love that it did. That was the moment where Iowa grew up. A normal last place team would have folded at that point, and I have to admit I thought they would. They showed a new level of guts by responding to that.

May's alley oops were pretty good too, not as good as that dunk but they were pretty good. This game was intense, close, had some big plays and a frenzied crowd. All that was missing was something to be played for other than pride but it was a great game. I'm glad I got to watch it and I'm glad the Hawks won.

It was a great play. What happened following the play should have received a T.

There were a couple situations in the game where I thought the players at the very least needed the officials to talk to them. The Shehe kid after that dunk, Brommer after his 2nd foul, and the time there was an all-out scrum that got chippy.

I'll be the horse's behind here and ask whether anyone else thought Sheehey should have been called for over the back on that one? Seemed to ride Basabe's shoulders with his non-dunking hand quite a bit on that play.

Realize the stripes would have been crucified for calling that in Assembly Hall but the fact is you can't gain elevation by pushing yourself off another player.

Agreed, he should have been T'd for his reaction.

Was glad to see Cole exact some revenge a minute or so later on the block, even if he got the foul.

That was a sweet dunk. And then Sheehey let it go to his head.

Got blocked by Cole next time down, missed a couple jumpers, then airballed a 14 footer and made some dumb fouls. He did nothing after it.

On the contrary, Mel put in 8 points after that dunk and kept Iowa in the game.
I was FLOORED by Mel's composure. Any other freshman would have lost it, that I am sure of. Well, one freshman did lose it - Sheehey.

It was a sick dunk, though.
