Too Slow

Or we need to go to the transition game like last year where our bigs ran the court and didn't try to score with their back to the basket.
I agree, we need to start running and gunning more, with the depth we have there's really no excuse not to.

If you think Woodbury is soft, you don't know basketball. He had a tough game, but plays with tremendous effort and heart.

It's sad how quickly fans turn on a team battling their butts off; that was tournament team we just played.

We battled through all kinds of adversity to have a shot: Marble's miss layup and MikeG's TO stalling us from really closing the gap.

We will keep getting better and better. I love it, and can't wait for next game.

I agree and I love the team and the talent! I just think there needs to be some line-up shifts, however. I don't like starting the game with the big line-up. I'd rather start small and quick and set the tempo. then go big to plug up the lane.

Effort and heart can only go so far when you're content with trying to lay the ball up and get swatted instead of taking it up strong and getting a dunk or fouled. Scoring 1 point and grabbing 1 board in 17 minutes is soft and until he gets stronger, decides to get aggressive, or both, we will have little inside offensive presence.

You can bet Fran will get this point across to him.

This x10. He's the softest player on this team. How a 7+ footer cannot go up strong and finish at the hoop is beyond me, he goes for nothing but weak little layups that get blocked or stupid hook shots falling away from the hoop. And this is when he's actually on the floor and not in foul trouble. He gets beat on defense then has to foul. Someone needs to show him what a dumbbell looks like and how it works.

Yep! Thank you. I made the same point in another thread and was basically called an idiot for it.
Big muscular difference between him (and others on Iowa's team) and the WSU players. And it showed all game.

You realize he's a true freshman right?

You realize that true freshman, especially big men need time to get "big ten strong" no matter how hard they work

We have plenty of drama queens on here, this team is young and played against a deep and experienced team. We lost, but played well for most of the game. My only complaint is I didn't think we played the reserves enough in the second half and it showed as our starters looked exhausted and couldn't come up with the hustle plays late in the game.

Our coaching staff is still learning what is going to work best as well, it was overall a good experience for the entire team. Go Hawks

I wouldn't say drama queens, I would say idiots.

You're an idiot. We have the talent but we're still young. They will learn to box out and scrap for the ball. Keep getting Clemmons, Olaseni and Ingram minutes we need them to attack the rim. And start going up strong. You can't keep trying to finesse the ball past a tall shot blocking team. We have the height and the athleticism to match. Play tough!

Before you start throwing stones, remember those who called those saying football was in trouble were idiots. We look like a mid major that if the 3's fall we could make a short run in the Dance. But in the B1G we won't get there. Hope Fran is better than Mid Major coach.

As I said last season...this team needs an enforcer. A Reggie Evans, Kent Hill, Ed Horton, Russ Millard physical presence.

If you're implying I'm somehow blaming #34 for his lack of muscular development, I'm not.
I'm simply pointing out he needs to get a lot stronger to be dominant.
