Too much Kool-Aid

Biggest misconception on message boards.
Maybe you're right. I don't care to look it up but it does seem narratives carry a lot of the discussion around here.

Narrative after PSU game was Iowa was a juggernaut who was competing for the west. Narrative today is Iowa will be lucky to win 7 games.

I've come to my peace with Iowa football. It used to ruin my day when Iowa lost, now I am just used to it. With the crew we have this is about what we are going to get. That's why I mostly hang around the BB forum.

Its still early and its not clear yet who the top teams are in the Big Ten. If PSU wins out, Iowa's close loss will end up looking real good. If PSU ends up losing to OSU, Mich and MD, then Ipwa's close loss will look more like a choke in hindsight. Hindsight is funny.

With all that said, i am strangely confident about MSU because i simply believe that MSU is not that good yet. I believe Iowa is going to win by something like 26-14. This is weird for me because I am not normally the overconfident type.

PSU, OSU, and Wisc are very clearly the best in the B1G. And you were correct, MSU is not very good. The Iowa offense(And gameplan) that showed up Saturday, the Def without Manny, and turnovers....That team maybe wins 1 more game .

I think we are better than MSU as well, but it doesn't matter. It was really bad yesterday, all around.

The best offensive plays was 1) a deep undertgrow ball that the receiver(who was targeted about twice) made a great play...and a fake punt, that if executed better, is a touchdown.

35 yards rushing, using a 195 pound speed back as a battering ram.

It was bad.

This year Iowa will likely be 7-5, next year they will be around 7-5 . If you go by the pattern 2019 should be the year I emotionally invest in.:)

I admit I was a gulper of kool aid. I really liked what i saw. But I also misread our coaching. I thought BF would have a better grasp on play calling.
Our defense is pretty dang good. As always.
But I didnt think our offense would be this bad. Esp. with Wadley and the young guys.

I lay this season purely at the feet of the Ferentz's. They are outdated. Its like you have a 5 speed car that can go 135 mph and you leave it in 1st, because it is safer.

My Saturdays just got a lot more free. I will not schedule things around games anymore. At least not until the name Ferentz in no longer in this program.

Why?

Was it all of his OC experience?
Was it all of his experience in the offensive juggernaut that is Iowa football?
Was it his relationship to the offensive guru who's in charge?

Anybody who thought BF would be good was, by definition, drinking the kool-aid. There was no reason to think that. You were "hoping" he'd be good.

I wonder if people are now understanding why some of us were unhappy with the BF to OC hire in the off season. There was no reason to believe we would see anything other than the shit show we are seeing now. No talent, outside of Wadley, running the same bullshit, outdated schemes we've seen the entire Ferentz era.

I was looking at his experience with the Patriots. And we have used the TE a lot more this season.

I thought that he would be a student of the game and learn from these great minds.

One can always hope.

There are a handful of people who only post after losses. They drive most of the conversation when they're here. I promise you none of those guys were on here after a win talking about winning the West. Those posters don't say much after losses.

I wasn't expecting much, then expectations rose after ISU, then the OLine showed what it is.

For some reason some HN posters thought Brian would be better than G. Davis. Davis wasn't that bad and Brian isn't that good. You know, the underlying thread in all this ineptitude among OCs in KF's era (including KOK as many posters were wont to decry) is KF.

I agree w/ most of that.

But, GD was only "not that bad" when he had Vince Young. Otherwise, he is that bad.
