Tom Davis Article in the PC

I love Tom Davis but Pat Harty's article trying to show all of his former players that are now coaching is comical.

He actually includes guys that are coaching in HS and I am not even counting the college assistants that he also lists.

Aside from Bowen, Rodell Davis, and maybe even Settles the list really isn't that impressive and it isn't like it is uncommon for former athletes to get into coaching at lower levels.

The actual paper has pictures of all the guys, and includes a couple ex coaches like Kenyon Murray.

I know, what's the big deal I just find the title of the article and the "story" to be kind of lame.

Agree, that coaching tree was pretty weak. The asst's are at low mid-majors and the Head coaches are at schools that are not any good.

That was kind of my point. I don't have a problem with them doing a Tom Davis story but the headline on the front page of the PC sports page is:

Godfather of the game

Godfather of the game???? Are they F'ing serious? And then to have Acie Earl as Solon assistant basketball coach listed as one of the many players that have become coaches. It's just laughable.

pat harty is a hack whos just thankful to have a job working for one of the worst run.corporations in one of the worst indistries in america
 
Why would anyone look down on high school coaches or asst, coaches? Where did most coaches start? As the head coach of Iowa, or Ohio State?
 
I enjoyed the story, but the title is misleading. He could have titled the story as more of a Davis's players still enjoying the game but from different perspective.
 
For all of you people who call Pat Harty... a hack... you couldn't carry the guy's jock.

Not sure why anyone is dissing journalism, newspapers and the industry in general. Without it you would not be informed, have no clue and and not be able to comment on anything.

When was the last time any of you went out, did the work, including due diligence and published a news story, editorial or commentary.

NONE.. NOT

Obviously the industry has changed and will change with the evolving nature of the internet and the print to electronic.

No doubt social media is a huge part of it all... but all you hacks who only diss on reporters/columnists from the "traditional" sources have nothing... I repeat NOTHING to offer.

I respect the journalism industry and many journalists. The Gazette has three great ones and I even enjoyed Keeler's work at the Register. But Pat Hardy is the worst one I've seen in my lifetime (no hyperbole), and anyone who defends him is laughable. Wink Wink..

This, and I heard Pat trying to do color for a HS football game last year and he was clueless to some of the basic rules of football, sorry I am not going to respect a journalist who doesn't even know basic rules of a sport he covers and the fact he was complaining that the clock wasn't running after a dead ball because he clearly didn't want to be there.
