one of the few competitive games until 2001

I respect the heck out of Brady, but I can't stand him, Belichek and the Patriots in general. I can't wait until Bill & Tom are gone for good and their dynasty falls apart. Going to happen soon NE fans.
They were starting to show signs of life toward the end of 2000.
Belichek I think steps down after the Super Bowl because he's estranged from Brady and Bob Kraft. Brady's wife wants him to retire so it wouldn't shock me if he retires, especially if the Patriots win.
Tom will get another ring I'll put up big ones on that.
They'll blow the hell out of the Beagles and Tom can ride into the sunset if he so chooses
I was at that game. Cold, rainy, and scalped tickets for $5 right at kickoff. But NC you are right, 1998-first 8 games of 2000 was the low point of Iowa football for my lifetime. 1992-1994 wasn't good either but not at that level. Interesting to note that Iowa started becoming competitive during that 2000 Wisconsin game, which I believe was Bob Sanders' first start.

Count yours
Count yourself lucky you were not around for the Frank Lauterbur disaster!
My second oldest brother was in band. My sister's future husband took the family to the homecoming game. The opposing team was green, so I am guessing Michigan State in 72. I learned that the objective of football was to take the handoff and run for the sideline as fast as you possibly could, to avoid being hit by the other team. Both teams were quite proficient at this. In other words both teams were terrible. I don't remember the score. My parents really wanted to see half time. I'm not even sure we stayed to the end. I didn't care, because I was a nine year old Dolphins fan in 1972. Iowa was a basketball school. That was my inauspicious beginning to Hawkeye fandom.
I didn't really become a Hawkeye football fan until my freshman year 81-82.
